It's that time of the year again where all of us phone in to DirecTV to see what representative will give offer us a significant discount on NFL Sunday Ticket. Smilie

As of this week, they are offering their current loyal customers 4 payments of $36.99 a month which comes out to about $148 for the package ($300 at regular cost). This is for NFL Sunday Ticket MAX, and no contract extension is needed. Last year I got it for free with a contract extension.

Along with that, I received credits of $20 off for 12 months, $15 off for 15 months, and $5 off HBO for 6 months.

Let's see if anyone can beat mine! Post away, football fans!!Big Grin

Call customer service 1-800-531-5000
8 am - 1 am ET, 7 days a week

to get to retentions (your best hope to get sunday ticket max free)

at the how can we help prompt say "cancel service" <----now asks "cancel service" or "change programming"
then choose "schedule a date to cancel" when asked

For those who can't pull this off. Amazon is selling EA's special 25th anniversary edition of Madden NFL 25 with Sunday Ticket Max for $99.

There are weird rings you have to jump through if you want it on the TV directly from DirectTV. (I see the irony at the end there)
However, you absolutely get the streaming for your computer, tablet and phone. So if you can't pull the deal here off, just nab Madden 25 and stream from your computer. You can even sell the game for $60 or more since it has exclusive DLC and end up paying anywhere from $40-$20 for the Sunday Ticket programming.

Don't be discouraged by your bill indicating you must cancel NFL Sunday Ticket by Sept 8th for any type of refund. Just spoke with Directtv and they indicated there is a grace period and the real date is Sept 22nd. Was able to get a discount (like others are posting) on 9-11-13- Screwuguys

Hmm, just registered, first post, and credits that exceed even what the retention reps are generally allowed to give out.

Perhaps plausible if this guy has been with them for 10 years and never asked for a credit before. Pretty unlikely otherwise.

I know a few directv folks who have said that people from competing companies post stuff like this so a lot of people will harass directv for deals they cant give, and then walk away mad.

I've been with them a long time and know how to work the system pretty well. I don't think I could get this deal, or even close to it. While I might get a discount on or free sunday ticket, and maybe a few credits too, I dont think you're likely to get this much from them.

So take it with a grain of salt and don't be ticked if they won't give you this much.wave

I called a month ago right before my contract expired. I was seriously sick and tired about fighting with DTV about my ridiculous bill ($90 a month) for all the basic channels with no premiums. For months prior they said there was nothing they could do. So I asked the guy when my contract expired. He asked why do I ask which I told him I'm just tired of DTV and the horrible service I've gotten. I'm by no means rich so I told him I was just going to bundle with cable and save money.

He offered my $25 off a month for a year with no contract extension, and Showtime and Starz free for 6 months. Decent deal since hopefully when I call soon I can negotiate with them since I'm not under contract.

Anyone recently out of contract have any ideas how to maximize resigning with them for 2 more years?

Total YMMV - but how I got Sunday Ticket free for the second straight year:

My girlfriend and I are moving from our apartment into a new home. Unfortunately, I had moved into this apartment one calendar year ago, so DirecTV wanted $180 as a mover's fee to relocate me. I asked how much it would cost to cancel with 7 months remaining on my contract, and was told it was $140. No brainer, especially since all of our service is pretty much off "special rates" by now (ie no more free Sunday Ticket, higher monthly rates in the second year, etc.) - I cancelled for $140 and planned to go with UVerse at my new place.

Fast forward to later in the week, DirecTV starts bombarding me with emails about wanting me back and having great deals. I figured it was a glitch in their system but called anyway.

Long story short, the CSR offered to:

- Waive the $140 early cancellation fee I had paid
- Waive the mover's fee to my new place next month (so I had zero out of pocket expenses for the entire cancellation/re-signup/move)
- Offer me a free year of NFL Sunday Ticket Max (my second now, after I had it last year also for free as part of a new-signup deal)
- Offer the first year of service at $30 off, the second year of service at $10 off (so I think the first year is right around $30/month base)
- Free Genie and Genie Light, or whatever it is called
- Free 3 months of HBO
- Free HD service for the first year, I think

All for just another 24-month contract starting from today's date, NOT on top of the original seven months we had left.

Not sure if it will work for everyone, but I believe DTV's 'early cancellation fee' is now $20/month (correct me if I'm wrong, but judging that on what it was going to cost me), so it may make sense for some in a similar situation. Seems like a crazy deal for me, but like I said, possibly a huge YMMV. As a huge NFL fan, and someone who got DTV just for the Sunday Ticket, I'm elated.

There was a promo a few months back where if you buy the 25th anniversary edition of madden for 99.99 you get it for free. Might want to look into this or if you call them use this as a negotiation point

The Madden "trial" of Sunday Ticket is the online/PS3 version - ie Sunday Ticket "to go". You don't need DirecTV to utilize it, and even if you have DirecTV you cannot utilize this to watch it using your DirecTV. You can only watch it online through a supported mobile or streaming device. Wink
