Apparently the wii u version of this game is a port from the 3DS version. Would explain the strange camera controls. Still it's a great game and what else are you playing on your wii u right now lol.
Lol yeah the Wii U has been collecting dust bunnies. Since I didn't like Zombie U and have played all the other games on different platforms my only other choice was Super Mario Wii U and that got old after a bit.
This is a good price for those who have been waiting for a price drop but I think I'll wait until it hits the 29.99 or lower range purely because of the awkward camera.
The demo left a bitter taste in my mouth. I really didn't like the camera controls. Is it worth getting the hang of it later on in the game?
I never noticed any issues with the camera in the Wii U version. The camera controls on the 3DS can be a pain unless you have a circle pad pro, but the Wii U has the extra analog stick for camera controls. I thought the camera controls were consistent with most 3rd person/1st person controls?
At any rate, the game is definitely worth it if you like grindy/loot-based games. There's no story worth speaking of so the primary motivation is hunting for gear.
I can't recommend this series enough. It's sad American culture doesn't value great games like this. I played this series since the first one on PS2 when there were only 650 person servers x 3. I have poured over 1000 hours into this series over it's age and bought a wii u last week just for this game ( and the announcement of ssb ). To the people who say they can't buy a system for one game, I say I'd rather have one game on one system that I play for 200+ hours then one system with 10 games that I play each for 10 hours. That being said, I do own every system so no bias here!
dang it! Just got this from CL for $40 a few weeks back, guess its just as good.
MH3U is the only reason I got a Wii U. I've played this series since it came out on PS2: MH, MH Dos, MH Tri and now MH3U. I seriously have THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of hours in this series. Yes it is difficult, but once you get in the groove (get the right armor, weapon and combat style combo) you won't be able to put this game down. People who think the newer versions are hard should try the original for PS2 on an emulator if they have to. They significantly lowered the difficulty after the PS2 versions. If you enjoyed the experience of Demons or Dark Souls you might enjoy this game. It is brutal in the beginning, but it also rewards patience, skill and planning. This is not a hack and slash, you literally have to track down giant creatures and hunt them down (since they WILL run if you start kicking their butt).
