The product description says "And more". However, the reviews are the ones that mention Amazon streaming.

My first question for people is

Can anyone verify whether or not this does Amazon HD? I haven't seen this answered here yet.

EDIT: got answered

EDIT: Further confirmation

Second question

Why do so many people want to tie up their wifi network with streaming video? Just put a router near your TV and hook all your game consoles, media players etc up via ethernet it causes virtually no load on your wired but even with wireless N streaming HD is a major load on your wifi unless you aren't doing anything else...

Actually it says 1080p playback from Blu-ray disk, and plays Netflix/HuluPlus etc. Also it doesn't not mention amazon at all.

can this stream MLB.tv?
No. I don't think so. At least the s590 and s390 I have don't. And it isn't listed on mlb.tv supported devices. Really wish Sony would add mlb to something beside their playstation.

Will this do HD video from Amazon Instant Video and Netflix?
Yes. Although it does not have wifi, so you will have to connect either via ethernet from your router or with a wireless adapter/bridge.

In for 1, was looking for an extra player, and for $25, can't complain since it seems to load discs pretty fast, and has the ability to resume from the last point in the movie.

It can be a hassle unless your house was built with networking in mind, I know my previous house wasn't and I had coax cable running through the outside of the house into my room, through a window and THEN to the wireless router. Now I have an ethernet/coax outlet right behind the entertainment center and a central router. So I agree with you on just plugging it in, but it might not be an option for some.

The item description says it will play mkv.

Playable File Formats: JPEG, FLAC, AVCHD, BDMV, WAV, MPEG1, MPEG-4, MPEG2, LPCM, Photo CD, M4V, MP3, VC-1, MOV, ASF, BDAV, MKV, XviD
Like all Blu-ray players since early 2012, it is "infected" with Cinavia for disk playback, but I wonder if that applies to MKV file playback also. MKV file streamers/players do not have to comply with Cinavia.
