Thread Details

Just looked into setting up internet at the place I'm moving too and found that I could order 15/5 internet for $39.99 a month no contract, price guaranteed for 12 months. Or 50/25 was $49.99, same deal, and 75/35 was $59.99.

I just went to customize your bundle, unchecked cable and phone.

Here is a pic of my order page:

This is YMMV, btw. The roommate who I'm moving in with came up with $49.99 on his computer for 15/5.

I'm in NYC and have the 50/25 plan for $50. It's also NO TAX, So I pay a flat 49.99 every month. Pretty awesome.
How do you like it? I was going to get Time Warner until I heard that Verizon Fios was available. Already had modem and wireless router ready for Time Warner too :-/
Looks like Verizon Fios' modem and router are free and install may be free with contract. I do like the no contract plan for $50/month

With 2 year contract, I pay $45/month for first 12 months then $65/month for months 13-24......
Wouldn't it make more sense to just get the $50/month no contract???

My parents just moved to NYC and I need to get them an internet provider, the 50/25 plan looks a lot better than Time Warner's plus it's cheaper.

wish the 50/25 price is permanent like the 25/25 for $45 2 years back.

My current Triple Play with Verizon expires in January. I have been debating signing up using my mother's name for a new bundle (as I don't give a crap about my Verizon email or phone number) or just dropping the cable and phone altogether and just getting standalone internet access.
Good idea. out of contract is an expensive affair. my triple play bundle contract is 69.99 with DVR, 50/25(it never crosses 35/20 which is a different thing). got it during thanksgiving. I think it is for 1yr and 2nd yr price goes up. Timewarner was charging me 59.99 for 15/5 slow internet alone.

How do you get the $100 gift card?
My Apartment had FIOS before and they shipped me the self-installation kit. Once I completed my activation, I received email with coupon code, which can be redeemed for Merchants Gift Card (walmart, bestbuy, amazon, macy's etc). This is for month on month and no contract required.

Been with optimum online for more than a decade now. As long as I can remember it has always been $30 a month standalone for 15/2 which now is more like 18/5 (upload speeds just went up to 5 mbits- about frikin time). I would have switched to fios in a heartbeat, but their original offering for internet was like 60-70$ when buying seperately off of triple play. I dont need triple play and cut my tv 2 years ago and use other voip providers for the home phone. Fios finally realized not everyone wants triple play stuffed down their throats and internet pricing needs to be at the same levels as current market pricing from competitors.

I called some weeks ago and was quoted $44/month for 15/5 forever in NOVA.

But forever of course means they can change the pricing anytime they want, you're just free to stop using it.

Peoria, IL area: ITV3 fiber is killing Comcast and when I went to cancel Comcast $62.99/month for 10/3 service they gave me 25/5 service for $19.99/month. Call them up, threaten to cancel, save enough motorcycle gas to get me from St. Louis to Chicago and more.
