Thread Details

Just looked into setting up internet at the place I'm moving too and found that I could order 15/5 internet for $39.99 a month no contract, price guaranteed for 12 months. Or 50/25 was $49.99, same deal, and 75/35 was $59.99.

I just went to customize your bundle, unchecked cable and phone.

Here is a pic of my order page:

This is YMMV, btw. The roommate who I'm moving in with came up with $49.99 on his computer for 15/5.

Haven't seen anyone ask yet but what FIOS website did you come in on to end up landing this deal? There's a few different ones that point to Verizon FIOS for netting new subscribers...

Was it a special link? Google result?

Reason I ask... I'm in Tampa too and not seeing anything like this.

I got $75 for TV Select and 75/35. Not the same deal but still a pretty decent price for an occasional tv watcher

I am jealous.

We only have Comcast here in the Bay Area.

Man, I wish Verizon Fios would come here.

I live in the LA county though I believe they are based off cities so I have zero fios availability around me.

I'm friends with my landlord and there's absolutely no chance we'll get FIOS installed in our run-down building (full of old people). Bummer.

Been with optimum online for more than a decade now. As long as I can remember it has always been $30 a month standalone for 15/2 which now is more like 18/5 (upload speeds just went up to 5 mbits- about frikin time). I would have switched to fios in a heartbeat, but their original offering for internet was like 60-70$ when buying seperately off of triple play. I dont need triple play and cut my tv 2 years ago and use other voip providers for the home phone. Fios finally realized not everyone wants triple play stuffed down their throats and internet pricing needs to be at the same levels as current market pricing from competitors.
while i don't disagree with you there is one factor to consider. the shared pipes with cable that you don't have with fios. i'm in nyc and time warner was the only choice for speeds faster than dsl till fios came along. the problem was with the shared pipes come 6-7pm my speed would drop by over half. with fios 50/25 i get 60/35+ all day every day and that's on wifi. it would be tough for me to go back to time warner. i have several friend and coworkers in the same boat. when you have people who feel they are getting more bang for their buck they are willing to pay the premium.
obviously for those who live in less populated areas the shared pipes might not be an issue.
