Looks like the 3 month offer that expired 6/30 has now been doubled to a 6 month tier upgrade.

1-Tier upgrade for Cox Internet users for Free
Got this promotion offer from Cox: Free 1-tier speed upgrade for 6 months.
The promotion mentions "As a valued customer, we're offering you a FREE speed upgrade for 6 months so you can experience the difference yourself"

To redeem this offer visit www.cox.com/ordernow and enter code AC132DX03U.

I read through the terms and condition and it looked good without asking for any commitment or price hike after 6 months so thought of sharing...

Excludes upgrades to "Ultimate tier"

Few things to make the code work:
1. You can check your current service plan by going to Residential Home > My Connection > Internet Tools: and look for Services:Cox High-Speed Internet - XXXXX Package

2. If the upgrade did not happen after entering the promo code online you have to call the customer support and ask him to apply the promo code there. (For me the chat support was not able to do it)

3. After 6 mnths you have to call the customer care and ask them to put you back on your original plan

Thanks... I gave it a shot. Coupon went through on the website and I received my confirmation email.

Went ahead and place an order for this. Not real sure why as the service level I have now is already blazingly fast.

Went through the order process and after completing I got this message:
A Cox customer service representative will contact you soon to complete this order.

Guess I will need to actually talk to someone before it goes through...

yes, I was wondering, if going from preferred to premier just what would be noticeable.

I wonder if this apply to people who are on 2 year price lock.

I called the local Cox number on Wednesday last week. Have Premier. Asked about special offers. Was offered 6 months of Ultimate at no price difference. Gladly took it, and marked my calendar for December to revert!

Cox is a stupid company. I pay for premier internet $79 for 50mbps. but i was getting premium speeds(25mbps) for months even after buying a docsis 3 modem. i contacted them several times and they told me to do stupid shit like ping tests and latency tests. I did it just to appease them and everything was great but my speeds were to low. They said it was a problem on my end or hardware and to make an appointment to have someone come and check. I tried to tell them: You guys probably have me set at the lower speed and are charging me for a higher service. They said no and to make an appointment.

A few days later i received this offer and and tried it just to see what would happen. Later that day i had speeds of 50mbps after they upgraded me.

So cox was charging me for a high service and giving me lower tier speeds lol.

When I did this a few months back with the 3 month offer, i received the same message but i never talked to anyone from cox and my speeds went up. So it is probably just a ploy to try and sell you something, you should be upgraded automatically

I did this a couple months ago and noticed very little, if any difference, so I reverted back. May be that the sites I frequent throttle bandwidth? Speedtest showed that I went from 25 to 50, but it sure didn't look like it in real use. But if they give you a free trial, why not give it a shot?

What if you're on a contract that ends in less than 6 months and you don't plan to keep the service? Can we still use the upgrade for the remaining months?

You won't notice a real difference loading up websites as 25 or 50 are both plenty fast for simple web browsing. Where you would see the biggest change is in streaming movies, online gaming, or downloading torrents.

How long did it take for your speed to increase automatically?

I really hate Cox.. I hate that their service is the only one available in my area/community even more. Of course, this means I'm stuck with them, so I'll definitely try this soon. Thanks!
