$349 for 18-55mm version:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...os_product

BH Photo: No tax to NJ, CA
Amazon: now collects NJ tax (7%), CA tax (8.75%)

Here is decent tripod to go with this camera

Review by dpreview [dpreview.com].. ken rockwell is NOT reputable. "ken rockwell is the chuck norris of photography"

New firmware improves auto focus speed [canonwatch.com]
Samples from B&H already appear to have latest firmware loaded, surprisingly. Comparison in performance [canonwatch.com]. Don't expect a miracle with the 22 mm and new camera firmware!

How to check your firmware out of the box:
-Turn on camera
-Rotate the mode dial on the top of the camera to the middle position - between auto (green) mode and video.
-Push INFO button and touch [CA] (creative Auto) and scroll with buttons over to select [AV] (aperture priority mode)
-Push MENU button and go to the wrench with 4 dots
-Bottom of screen lists your firmware version

No built in flash. Speedlite 90ex is about $140 extra. --> set up a slick alert for 270EX II ~$125 way way better than 90EX. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)
No view finder.
Canon EF lens adapter sells for $149 on Amazon
- bulk /grey market versions of same adapter can be found for under $100 on eBay from HK sellers $100
Third Party "Chinese made" Adapters with AF ability sell for 50 dollars on Ebay

Note that the white camera has a glossy finish and is a little more slippery than the black matte version.

$362 shipped with flash. not bad. just for camera and 22mm lens on amazon is $325 due to tax. only $37 more for the flash.

wonder if i should just pull the trigger and return/refuse amazon shipment
how would returns work if you're in the US and end up not liking it?

that's what's stopping me from buying that canada one.. that and possible warranty issues

You may not get the 1-year USA warranty...but I've never had to use the warranty for any of my digital cameras so far (probably just jinxed myself).

Canon use the same North America warranty system in both US and Canada, you still get the warranty from Canon, but it's not easy to return stuff back to Canada.

I tested the flash come with the kit on a SLR. It's ok, not great.

Good:
Small and light.
No lens shadow even on ultra wide lens

Bad:
No high speed sync
Slow recharge
Low power

It's good for a fill-in flash use it outdoor.

I used to live in Canada and brought a lot of equipments from B&H.
It's funny that we (Canadian) used to buy Camera Equipments from US before. Now, I see Canada has better Camera deal shake head

I kept my Amazon order and got the Sunpak RD2000C instead of the 90EX. Bought it in like new condition from ebay for $47 shipped. Enjoying it very much as it is E-TTL II compatible and can do bounce-flash.

If anyone still needs one: looks like Amazon now has it available for ordering (again).

i just checked it. your right that sunpak is way better. you can bounce it and it uses AA batteries! F that 90EX its weak compared to the sunpak.

is ebay the cheapest to get the sunpak?

Amazon and B&H are both at $62.99.
eBay is higher - but I luck out for a slightly used one.. Smilie
