I already own multiple PS3 controllers. Is there any reason I'd want to use this controller on my PC vs using PS3?
Only if you think it feels more comfortable (as I do). Some games also "natively" support this Xbox controller, so you see a picture of the 360 controller when you look at the controls rather than some generic gamepad. I don't know if that's true for any solution on a PC game that uses a PS3 controller.
I can confirm that the receiver works on any official Microsoft Xbox 360 controller. I bought an "official" wireless dongle from Ebay about two weeks ago for about $12 and I am very happy with it. I still have my old xbox controllers from my xbox elite edition and they work great with all games besides games such as Diablo 3 and such. Tomb Raider and Metro: Last Light both recognize my xbox 360 controller and all my emulators (N64, SNES, NES, and Genesis) work great with this. I do however use Xpadder to map my keys with my controller. If you have a play and charge cable with your controller just plug it into a usb slot and it'll keep it powered for you, never have to worry about charging or changing batteries. If you're in the market for an xbox 360 controller for your PC and don't need another controller, just purchase the dongle and download xpadder and you'll be set and save yourself some cash.
