Been waiting for the price to drop on this Kamado grill as Costco clears out their summer inventory. It finally happened and now sells for $399.97. Originally sold for $569.99 ($649.99 online due to shipping weight).

Basically this is similar to The Big Green Egg (BGE), but at a fraction of the price. Does this perform identically to BGE? Some say yes others say no. Given an equivalently equipped BGE would run you $1000+, I opted to buy the Vision brand based on the research.

It has got great reviews:

Again, this deal is IN-STORE only and YMMV. Not sure all Costco stores carry this, but for those interested in a quality Kamado combo smoker & grill this is a heck of a deal.

Fair warning....this sucker is HEAVY...a solid 228lbs!
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

I would assume that is the defect they are talking about. I haven't seen it yet. Do you think that is totally just cosmetic?
Spoke with Laurie at Vision as well as more reading online. The spider web cracking in the outer glaze is called "crazing" and is due to the uneven heating/cooling expansion between the ceramic and the glaze. Apparently it's quite common to see it on all makes of ceramic cookers (and ceramics in general). I was told it is purely cosmetic and that was voiced by the internet crowd as well.

Vision said they were going to send out a repair kit for my ceramic dings, a new side table because one of mine came with a crack, and a replacement lower grill grate as mine doesn't open properly. So yea, there are some QA issues but if the company stands behind their product, I've got no regrets.

Any one have luck getting a nearby Costco (at full price) to pricematch to a store with the clearance price but none in stock? (about 15 miles separates these stores)

Didn't use an extension number. Just called the main "contact us" number on their website and got connected right away.

You need to call them and ask to confirm whether this item is in stock first. Once they confirm it's in stock, ask them how many are in stock and for what price. If they refuse to confirm the price, just explain to them that your friend told you that it's on sale for $400 and you want to make sure they have the item in stock for that price before you make the LONG drive there to pick it up. That usually works (at least at the Los Feliz and Alhambra locations in the Los Angeles area). They each had about 7 to 8 left as of this past Sunday...

Based on your post, and a couple of calls to the local Costcos I went Tuesday to the Alhambra store where there were 5 NIB Kamados. I chose the least damaged box, but have not opened it yet. Thanks and repped.

It's the same price at my local Costco....just not sure I should pull the trigger. I have a nice gas grill and electric smoker....do I really need this?

I wouldn't bother getting the small one. It is just too small. Also, the coals sit about 3 inches from where you are grilling/smoking/etc. Just too small and too close. Taking mine back tomorrow.

I have seen these in the Aurora and Centennial locations. Westminster was also mentioned here as having this price.

I didn't buy this but I saw tonight there were at least 2 boxes of this in Costco in Alhambra CA 91801.
And I think the price was $399 too.
Good luck.
Saw it this week. They must have restocked because I saw a good 5 boxes + the open display model.

I grabbed one at Costco in NYC near the JFK airport for $299.97 (a week ago they had it either for 600 or 650). They had 2 in stock + display model. Another guy took the other one after I chatted with him about it for 15 minutes. The display model was still left and looked in good shape.
