this brand use to be good when they made them in the USA, now it isn't worth much. not bad for the price, but I still won't buy it. I will pay extra and purchase allen edmonds that are still made in the USA.
Just FYI, I have both and Allen Edmonds tends to run smaller and definately much more narrow. These shoes are sized to what I would consider standard sizing.

I had the Georgetown II back in the day. It was in that $350 range and about as well made as a cap toed oxford could be. Had them redone at the J&M factory for about $100. They lasted another 4 years and then it was time to part. I looked at what J&M is now making and the quality has gone down but I think the top shelf ones are still made here. But just about every other premium shoe company is now using the near East for manufacturing so it's just a sign of the times.

The AE shoes are nice & made in the US (for now).

Wow, I got mine in today and these things are horrible compared to my ankle boots I got from J&M only a few years ago. The insides of these are nothing like my boots and there are visible flaws in the finish. Sending them back.

^This. I am cheap with respect to most things, but J&M dress shoes last twice as long and look twice as good as anything i can find for under $100. I only keep 3 pair at a time, though and if the 2- and 3- year old pairs I have now needed to be replaced, I'd be in on this.

FWIW I've tried buying from their outlet stores but have been disappoinyed with flaws that compromised comfort and durability.
Couldn't agree more, have never spent as much on shoes until I found these and can't go back. They last and they are brilliant, simple, well made, and worth every penny.

For anyone still coming across this thread, it appear that most sizes of the Melton shoe in the BORDEAUX COLOR ONLY are now priced at $103.61.

If you get the 20% off coupon, that brings the price down to around $83. Not bad for a shoe that is $175 at Zappos, Macy's and Nordstrom.

If you've already ordered the Bordeaux color at a higher price, call Amazon for a price adjustment. They didn't give me a hassle at all, probably because they knew I could simply return the shoes at no charge.

Thanks OP!

Allen Edmonds Park Ave's are also on sale in black for $223.36 + 20% off with email

I am currently wearing a pair of the Meltons and can say that they are comfortable and require very little break-in time. I have a pair of the AE Park Aves that have been delivered today that I am excited to try on.
But which ever shoes you end up getting, invest in some shoe trees.
