For the existing FiOS customers - The simplest 'no hassle' way to get the introductory offer:
  1. Create referral account https://www.sharethenetwork.com/s...ister.aspx
  2. Send yourself/spouse a link for the referral or give them the code. (If you have a friend with FiOS, have them send you a referral and when it's time for them to get new service you refer them. I've heard you can have the referrer and referree be from the same address but it might be safer to have a friend do it)
  3. Go through with signing up for new service. Make sure you're going through the referral link or using the code from the referral. During the signup you'll select that the existing service at the address is not yours and they will be responsible for canceling their service.
  4. Note: During your order, add an SD cable box on your first TV to get it free for life.
  5. Schedule an install date for your new service (usually lets you do that during your sign up process online). You can schedule the install for up to 2 months out I think.
  6. Once you have an install date for your new service, call Verizon and cancel your old account the day before your new service will be installed (you'll be without service for a day). You can schedule a future disconnection, you don't have to actually wait until the day before to call and cancel.
  7. A day or so after you sign up for the new service and have an install date scheduled, call Verizon (under your new account, you should have an install reference code they give you) and tell them that "Cable Company X" has a better deal. Ideally you want to be referred to the retentions department. If you hassle with them enough you can get an extra $10 off per month for the full 2 years.
  8. Have the installer come out and have him hook up your old boxes to the new service. You can flat out tell the installer what you did and that you want to use the old boxes for the new service. They deal with this all the time and don't care. As long as your old boxes are shown on their system as being used on an account they'll be flagged as "turned in." (At least that's what my installer told me, and they've cleared from my account. My install was 6 months ago)
  9. A few days after you have your new service installed you can sign up for the Verizon Connections program if you have an employer or school that participates in it. If you qualify, you'll get another $10 off for triple play and $5 off for double play. http://verizonconnections.vzcomportal.com/

Seems like a good price for year 1.

Just got a notice from Verizon that they are raising cost of CableCard rents from $3.99/mo to $4.99/mo starting August 1st.

You still get 6 streams per CableCard, but pay a $1 more/month.

It always does. However, if you are an existing customer, you can "refer" your wife, and she will be a new customer, even though you have the same address. As a referral bonus, both you and you wife will receive an additional $50 AMEX cards when you sign up.

In fact, any existing customer can refer someone and they will both get $50 AMEX cards. However, SD does not allow solicitation of referals. Which is perfectly fine, since you will be refering your wife, without going through SD Big Grin

So do I have to cancel my service first before referring a family member?

VZ gotta start offering free DVR promotion, like most cable companies do..
PrimeHD doesnt have most channels I am interested in and 15/5 Internet, while not slow, upgrade to 50/35 or 75/35 would cost additional $$$.

I must have missed the price increase on cable cards. That bites ,, just canceled hbo because the promo price ended and they would not extend.

Be very very careful with Verizon customer service. They are big on bait & switch part of deal. Make sure you print screen each and every screen that you are going thru to make sure you get your gift card.

I find FIOS channel lineup really messed up.

You get BBC America on Select HD but not on Prime HD
Likewise you get Disney Jr on Prime HD but not on Select HD. Mind you this is not even Disney Jr HD which I currently get on Optimum. So I have to get Extreme HD to get the same channel I get now... wish less HD content.

I was offered a $69.99 triple play with Select HD.

Also the fact that FIOS had cancelled Funimation sucks.

So let me get this straight, my contract is up at the end of the month. Can my wife sign up as a new customer at the same address after I cancel? Therefore giving me a new 2year agreement?

Alternatively, you can also do a triple play of Extreme HD TV and 50/25 Mbps Internet, with no contract (and no $300 card), for $94.99 a month.

According to other SD users in the past, yes. I'm attempting the same thing.
