Thread Details

I have an account on Zecco which apparently merged in 2012 with TradeKing, I haven't logged in or made a trade with them since 2011. I received an email from TradeKing today saying that I have been charged a $50 inactivity fee as I have made no trades i the past 12 months and have less than $2500 in the account. This fee was added when Zecco merged with TradeKing and wasn't part of the T&C I agreed to when I signed up with Zecco. I have never agreed or 'checked 'yes to any new fee structure or new T&C, can TradeKing legitimately charge me this inactivity fee?

ya, tradeking has fees for everything now if it wouldn't cost a fortune to move to different brokerage I would have by now.

Do you have penny stocks, if not you can transfer to any other brokerage.

I know they have new fees now but since I didn't agree to the T&C (as I haven't logged in since the merger) can they still hit me with the $50 fee before I agree to them?

well you technically did agree, they had some kind of email sent out if you did not transfer out the account you automatically agreed to new t&c by a certain date. Sent it about 3-5 months before the merger took place. You'll have to dig thru ur email to find it but I remember reading it.

Is email a legitimate form of communication that allows them to change the T&C with out my consent?

Yes.

If you didn't agree to electronic communications in Zecco, maybe not. In either case, just call em up and ask to reverse the fee, then either move the account or make a trade once a year.

Going to. Any recommendations? Looking for cheap trade fees. Scottrade the best for this?
