Toshiba's are normally good, reliable laptops. Some may have better displays. Typically, the competition is between Lenovo, Toshiba, or Apple notebooks. Acers are known to be quite reliable too. To me, most of my purchases have been Toshiba laptops and usually last me a long time (and I use mine quite a lot each day). Just my 2 cents.

SAVE 600 is probably $60 off $600. There is also DEFDEALS700 which is $70 off $700. it looks like you have to register and/or almost complete the checkout to verify the full discount.

Can anyone with a Toshiba account confirm? I don't feel like registering to find out it's a no-go.

And, for what it's worth, I think it is a great deal. I am very happy to see that laptops with 1080p screens have come down in price. Many people don't realize what they are missing by using 720p/768 screens. For those with no significant eyesight issues, it should be a must-have.

You will see the price stated by OP when you finish the first part of the check out i.e. enter address etc.

One thing that bothers me here is the 5400RPM drives. The step up to the 1TB Hybrid drive is a whooping $120. That's a bad value. In all other respects, it's what I need, including the relatively inexpensive Blu-Ray upgrade and the 802.11ac wireless adapter.

I'm afraid that the laptop will feel sluggish because of the slow hard drive. Decisions, decisions...
