I am a current newsdemon customer - I've been with them for 2 1/2 years. They are fantastic. I was paying $7/mo for unlimited from a promotion a few years ago. Had a quick chat with billing support and they updated my account to this $5/mo deal. Fantastic price, thanks OP!
Harry: Welcome to live chat support.
Harry: Hello.How may I assist you ?
Me: I have an account already at newsdemon and i see you are running a special today for $5 a month using the coupon code NDUNL2013E and I was wondering if I could change my plan to the $5 a month plan. My member ID is XXXXXXXXXX
Harry: Okay, please wait while I look into your account information.
Harry: Thank you for your patience.
Harry: I have successfully upgraded your account to the current promotional as requested.
Great deal. I love Newsdemon. They're very lenient with their unlimited quotas. I have probably downloaded 1-2 TBs per month from them (3+ at peeks times) and they've been good with reactivating my account quickly any time I reach a temporary quota. I had TheCubeNet before and they were a bitch with it. I got a new faster internet connection and without warning they banned my account with no way to get it back. Newsdemon all the way.
And Usenet is going stronger than ever in my opinion. I couldn't live without it. It blows torrenting out of the water. All the new releases are out immediately, max out your connection, great queuing features, much fewer RMAA concerns and a great way to find older and rare releases. Obviously there are takedowns for the newest shows or movies but they're there is you grab them relatively quickly (much easier with Sickbeard & Couchpotato enabled). And I don't know what the previous person was talking about but Sickbeard works better than before. However, if you are using it without a separate indexer site, the default Sickbeard index for shows isn't as quick as others. I use SmackDownOnYou right now and it is amazing.
For anything that I can't find, I fill it out mostly with filesharing sites (tehParadox) and some torrents here and there. Neither of these services can really be your only primary source for downloading if you do a ton of it, but I think that usenet works the best as that main source if you are looking for the fastest speeds, convenience and sheer volume. If you rarely download, like the poster above with less than a 100gb in months, the unlimited usenet deal is probably not the best. I run through 100gb blocks in a couple days so unlimited is the best thing in the world for me. Just my 2 cents.
lol people seem to have short memories on these low priced "unlimited" plans from these resellers. anynsort of serious traffic on this 5 dollar plan will be throttled or they will cancel or even say they werent able to bill you for some reason.
What do you guys use the free online storage for? There's no way to download to that directly--bypassing my computer directly, is there? I believe I read some services--maybe it was a torrent thing--could directly download to a cloud service (with a limited storage) and then you could access your files from there. Pros of that is fast download (basically the speed of the service, which presumably is gigabit+ speeds), and offload processing from your computer.
I already have Dropbox, Copy.com, and a whole bunch of other cloud services...
