Pictures are not great, but beggars can't be choosers when "borrowing" from someplace else. Figure it's the least they can do when they "borrow" enough of our posts.

For what its worth, its not worth trying to reach the $50 threshold and use the $5/$20
Very true. You are better off with multiple $5/$20 transactions than the large $50 point order. I count the points as dollars because it's easier to throw away 20,000 points than it is to throw away a $20 bill.

For newbies or anyone considering buying Eucerin or P&G deal with a $5/$20

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE PLANNING YOUR SCENARIOS

The $5/20 will reduce the $15 or $30 threshold required to earn RR buy deducting % discount on each item you are buying for that promo.

You may not have enough items to total the value needed after the register line item deducts each items price bringing your total under $15 for Eucerin or under $30 for P&G , which means a RR will not print

Please plan accordingly before going to the store , save yourself a lot of headaches by doing the research, math and deal scenarios before you run out

The $5/$20 line item deducts % off each item for deals where you have to spend a specific amount to earn reward(Points or RR)

Read here for one way to do the math (rep that op here too) http://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=58408864&postcount=344

The $5/20 does not affect deals where a specific price is required to earn points or rr

It will tie up the thread if everyone asks for help with math, you need to make a decision if its worth the time/effort and do the research & calculations for yourself because the math will vary for every single scenario. There are several posts in the past 6 months where people have clearly spelled out how to understand and carefull calculate, those posts are scattered but not too hard to find.

$5/20 purchase is 25% if you are only buying $20 in items that are not part of a buy x value get y reward

The % is calculated differently for buy x value get y reward and using $5/20

I get military discount, so if I buy $18 Eucerin, after 15% off its $15.30, and I add $5 of other stuffs, can I use 5 off 20 and still get $8 RR? TIA

The $5/20 is going to reduce your eucerin to less than $15.30 .Not sure by how much because it depends on how many items you will have in your transaction

You can do the math by following the info here http://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=58408864&postcount=344

haha, may be 5 off 20 Q was a trick from wags so that many still buy RR products and dont get any RR and argue with managers....

that math needs some algebra skill...i will do that.

This is my plan, I am hoping that it works.. Not very good at putting together scenarios.... any input is appreciated!

You think that is bad, lol, Dh and I were up until 1 am trying to figure out military discount, on top of calculating the % off the 5/20 deducts.

We were adding items trying to reach $50 . It took hours of calculating until Dh finally at 11:45 p.m. created a spreadsheet to tally, deduct and calculate . It wasnt until it was all set up that we could drag and drop and see just how much we were losing by trying to get the $50 threshold to redeem points. EEK!

...and there in lies the problem, you lost $22 between points and tax.

Depends on what your motives are. I want some RRs the quickest and easiest way possible to play with some different points items, however I don't feel like losing approx. $20 every time in order to do so. From that perspective I don't think the Tide deal is anything hot that can't be done at another store.

However, if you need the Tide, don't mind burning the points etc. - go for it. Your scenario is about the average of what I was figuring using 40,000 points.

We tried several ways to make it work with various deals and it always came down to the # of items reducing the worth of the $5/$20

Our brains are wired to think that if we redeem the $50 and use 40,000 points that we would save more but when you take everything apart and dissect the minute details it just doesnt work in our favor.

If someone comes up with a resolution to make it work and not take a loss please let us know .

Our math could be off but we looked at it from several angles last night and couldnt make it work
Pay 40k points, get back $26.50 in RR ($10, $8, $3, $2, $2, $1.5).

Products obtained:
3 12-packs Charmin, 3 Dawn, 3 Eucerin, 1 Colgate MW, 1 Crest MW, 1 Reach TB, 1 Colgate Dental Care.

TP is the only item I care about, so in effect paying (or "losing") $13.50 (13,500 points) for 3 16-pack double rolls. Exchanging remaining 26,500 points into $26.50 RR.

I don't have price points on the Eucerin but the $32.94 on P&G and ~$16.5 worth of Eucerin (3 products @ 5.49) are safe amounts to stay above the threshold when spending $65.87 total product. I come out to a total of $48.87 after all manu coupons and $5/$20. Add in fillers of choice or slightly higher priced Eucerin to get to $50 to spend your 40k points.

Hope for a nice DD deal later on to flip the RR's, or at last resort some more vitamins!

True, may be just easier to run $20 if we have unlimited 5/20's at disposal.

With regards to the P&G deal I guess it depends on a need for the items, whether it be TP or detergent. I am in need of TP (somehow burnt through like 4 years of clearance stockpile finally)...but you could substitute Tide in. I think I will just run this a couple of times and then switch over to $20 transactions or perhaps $35.

EDIT: More detailed math in post #229

^ Ugh, that is a mess. Someone check my math if you can. I have never used 5/$20 on spend X amount RR promo's, but my understanding is final totals of all products then % of the $5 comes off across all items. Before all manu coupons?

I'll make a new nicer laid out post with the exact dollar amounts and all manu coupons used if that scenario is valid.

Here is my plan:
Trans 1
Reach 2pk 2.99 (2)
Colgate MW 5.99 (2)
Crest MW 4.49 (1.50)
Colgate TP 2.99 (1)
HE BW 2/$7 (2)
1 folder .10
SubTotal 23.56, after using 5/20 and above coupons total 10.06 use 10K, .06 oop
will receive 2, 3, 2, 1.50 & 2 RRs, total 10.50 in RRs

Trans 2
Pure Life 14.99 (5)
Huggies 8.99 (2 ivc) (3)
4 folders .40
Subtotal after ivc 22.38
After using 5/20 and coupons listed total 9.38 use 3, 2, 2 & 2 from trans 1, oop .38
will receive 10K points

After making 2 transactions, I will have 1.50 RR left over and everything else for FREE!!!

I just wanted to let you know that the REACH toothbrushes when I bought 2 came out buy 1 get 1 half price. The first was $2.99 and the second was $1.49. I don't know if that is what will happen to you too & how that affects your scenario. It messed my calculations yesterday and I got so confused and since my total was only around .56 cents I couldn't use another 2.00 off coupon and I just ended it like that and didn't remember I could have probably added more items then used the coupon.

Okay so does my total have to be 20.00 or more after all IVCs to use the 5off20? I am not trying to get any additionally RRs after reaching a certain amount.

This is what I wanted to do:
Huggies 8.99
Huggies 8.99
Reach 2.99

It equals $20.97 but after IVCs it's $16.97. Thanks !

Forgive me for going OT, but I'm having to go mobile for a while and want to say thank you where it wil be seen, particularly since I'm unable to rep...

Thank you so much Tipper, juliebeans, and desmerelda for the deal and reports on the B&L Soothe eye drops last DD Saturday. IMO, that was by far the easiest MM deal of the day, and on something I could use! So, TY! TY! TY!

Again, sorry for the interruption.
