I signed in from the main app before doing the in-store feature thing. Then when the in store thing finally showed up it let me check in without any trouble. It did take a while for it to find out I was near the store. I had to pull into the parking lot and wait a minute before it figured it out.
I'd be a bit wary about spoofing this location or just dropping in 2x/week (if you pass by a BB on the way to work/lunch). While you will be adhering to the rule of the promotion, I doubt they would feel that you were adhering to its spirit of said promotion. This isn't like the FB promo at all (which I still don't understand why they felt this was valuable data).
If they were smart, they would recognize that anyone who is willing to jump through hoops to check in using their app 2x week for a measly 10pts will ALSO take any BB points, no matter how small, for a given transaction.
Therefore, it wouldn't be terribly hard to filter the # of folks checking in 2x/week BUT didn't have transactions on those same days. You can also filter out the # of folks spoofing their location if they try to check in outside of store hours (say before 10AM). You now have a list of people who are very likely working you (BB corporate) over w/o generating additional revenue for your company.
Now, armed with this list, how hard would it be to exclude them from future promotions (or NOT send them targeted promotions anymore)? That's what I would do if I was in the shoes of BB corporate.
Well I'm apparently at 235 points, that I don't remember accumulating, and I'll be going there today (my Best Buy is right next to my Walmart) so eh, why not. After this I'll just need 5 points for $5, woo
did anyone notice the terms and conditions says: "Reward Zone members get bonus points for check-ins every 24 hours and up to 2 times per week (Saturday through Sunday)."
saturday-through-sunday means only the weekend! or is it a typo from best buy?
Good catch! I first thought they meant something like "a week is counted from Sunday through the upcoming Saturday," but that should have said "Sunday through Saturday."
Oh well...people are saying they got the credit. That's good enough for me.
And people, please don't fark it up with your shenanigans and tricks that game the system. They've already pulled the plug on one free points outlet (the Facebook survey,) they might do this too, if too many people try to get one over. Don't be a parasite.
