Will someone talk me out of this? I already have a receiver that I like- it looks like the Harman can eBay for like $550, minimum. So call it $500 after fees. That leaves $1300 for the set.

Amazon pricing is high, but it looks like:

◦(2) Klipsch Reference RF-52 II Floorstanding Speaker
$600 each
◦(1) Klipsch Reference RC-52 II Center Speaker
$369
◦(2) Klipsch Reference RS-42 II Surround Speaker
$175 each
◦(1) Klipsch Reference SW-310 Powered Subwoofer (Black Only)
$1k

So piecing this together gets you fairly close to $3k (without the receiver). What am I missing with this?

I just bought 2 Klipsch F-30 floorstanding speakers for $180 each, they are 150 watt RMS 600 peak, the specs on these are inferior for double the price.

Dont think do...go back to school...

This is a better deal than the klipsh Onjyo newegg deal I got last year or was it 2 years ago...I wish I could buy these but my set is just sitting in the basement collecting dust.

The receiver they mated this kit with won't match the Klipsch timbre. Fail.

Where'd you find the F-30s for $180 each? I see the newegg deal for $190+tax+ shipping that's dead now.

Also, I'm not sure that this is exactly double the price- it actually seems like it's quite a bit less expensive. Assuming you paid $400 for your pair and a $500 return on the Harman receiver, that leaves $900 for the sub, center, and two surrounds.

Absolutely right.
It would be Denon X3000 or Yamaha 1030, right? Big Grin

As you pointed out...Amazon pricing is really high and wouldn't compare it like that. What I would do is call up *authorized* audio retailers and ask them if they can do better than what you see here.

I am just throwing it out there, not knowing anything about the subwoofer so ignore this if you have too: "No way is that sub worth $1,000!"

Denon matches better to Klipsch speakers, in my opinion.

Pardon me? Are you referring to the front towers and the centre speaker not being matched in timbre?

EDIT: I see where you are going. I guess it is a matter of opinion. I paired an Onkyo 507 with RF82II, and liked it. Much of the discussion I read a year ago when looking at AVRs was that Onkyo produced a more warmer sound than Denon. But I was looking at Onkyo's more higher end models at the time.
