Still the best card imo for everyday spend. Some people don't travel very often, and prefer cashback, so a 2% cb on everything card is better for them. But I value a Starpoint as worth more than $0.02, so SPG is best for me.

And OP, unless I missed it, I think you left out one of the best features of the card. SPG gives you a 25% bonus when you transfer Starpoints to frequent flyer miles in blocks of 20,000. So 40,000 SPG to say AA nets you 50,000 AAdvantage Miles. 60,000 SPG becomes 75,000 on AA (enough for 1st class RT to Hawaii for example) and 80,000 SPG becomes 100,000 miles on many airlines (enough for business class to Europe.)

For hotels stays, don't forget about 5th night free awards...use points to stay for 4 consecutive nights and the 5th is free!

Thanks for that information. I'll rep you once I'm on my laptop.

If you transfer points, is there a fee? Do you know where I can find the list of countries I can reserve a room with this?

Lastly, have you ever had luck getting the annual fee waived for the next year? I'd rather not cancel, but downgrade or get a credit for the fee instead if possible.

Can you churn this card? I had this maybe 2 years ago and got the bonus at that time and canceled before the annual fee kicked in.

I would get this card if I stayed in a lot of hotels, but I think their program was devalued quite a bit. Still sticking with my hyatt card.

If you are beyond 12 months from cancellation, you are good.

I already have 2 Amex Cards including a Hilton HHonors one and a Gold one

Will I get rejected because I already have 2 cards or if I already have a hotel one?

Thanks, I really want this card!

If you aren't looking to churn this card, you can probably make up the annual fee (likely more) with AMEX promotions. For example, currently you can get $25 back on $250 at BB (I bought amazon and VISA GCs), $15 off $75 at WM (bought VISA GCs).

I currently have the SPG Business Amex and probably had the personal one about 2 years ago. Would I still be eligible for this offer? I also already have 3 Amex cards total - SPG Business Amex, Costco, and my company's corporate card.
