If you use stock software I think you need to turn on DLNA on the Pogoplug. However I read everything passes thru Pogoplug servers which limits the streaming speed.

I ended up hacking mine with ArchLinux then put the Samba package for sharing. I added some other packages also. It works pretty good with with all my XBMC PC's and Raspberry Pi. Samba is the way Windows shares it's files with other computers. Your ATV2 with XBMC will have a section called WindowShares SMB which you would use to find the hacked Pogoplug. Also your PBO will be able to used SMB as I had one and sold it awhile ago.

BTW follow graymen2 link for hacking this thing. I am pretty sure it's his blog. I am a linux newb and spent a lot of time on the Arch forums to get my first pogoplug up with Samba, Swapfile, Sab, Sickbeard, CouchPotato. I then found out he wrote a blog and it had everything from start to finish to do this and it was faster than my method. Only thing was installing either Sickbeard or CouchPotato didn't work with those instructions. I needed to use yaourt command rather than pacman and everything worked after that. I wish I had that blog when I first messed around with the Pogoplug. Also just add the things you think you will need as you don't want to overload the Pogoplug. I didn't add the USB audio or AirPrint packages. Great to have a low powered media server and downloader.

I do not know what I got myself into. I just wanted a way to access all my media since i travel a lot. I also was hoping there would be a way I could stream videos from the server to my android devices. So I installed arch linux from that blog but now I have no idea where to go from there. I downlaoded samba as well but honestly do not even know what it is. I am way over my head now... please help!

If you are trying to access your movies outside of your house like on your cell phone or at a hotel using their wifi then this pogoplug is too underpowered for that. You would probably want a dedicated pc or laptop that is left on at your house to send the movies to your phone. It's called Plex Media Server you install on your pc. Then buy the Plex app from android store. Have Plex Media server find all your movies on your network and then when your phone accesses your media it will have your pc decode the movie that your phone understands and lets you access it anywhere.

If you are trying to access you movies at home on your LAN then XBMC or a network media player can access your pogoplug with the movies. Samba is the program that shares your hard drives with media.
