Went there for this deal. They brought biscuits and whole bunch of other stuff before shrimp and we were stuffed even before our different types of tiny shrimp plates arrived. I think we ate on average 30 or so extra small shrimps.
Haha well yeah - that's the point. They don't put out those magically delicious (and cheap) cheddar bay biscuits for fun. They know you will eat a ton of them and fill up then hopefully only eat your initial order of shrimp, maybe a max of one refill, and be full.
If your goal with this is to get the max value for your dollar, don't eat anything beforehand and just order grilled shrimp (no breading) until you are full. But really, you go out to a restaurant to enjoy yourself and have a good meal, so if you force yourself not to eat the other items that you enjoy just to make it a better deal, you're sort of missing the point.
Went to red lobster last week and took advantage of this. Waiter asked me if I was going to go for the "record." He said the record for refills on shrimp in the last week was 43 refills. Needless to say I fell a little short of that.
Actually, it's not that way for everyone: my local Red Lobster keeps the shrimp coming and takes your next order when delivering the last one, and always is smiling. I go for the "buffest" of shrimp--different flavors to try.
Tried this a couple years ago and unless you are going to take an afternoon it's just not worth it. The service is slow (on purpose), the plate size was 8-10 shrimp, and we ended up just leaving after an hour of this cat and mouse game of here's a little bit of food, now wait. Which of course is the whole point of why they offer it. You'd have to eat about 2lbs of shrimp to break even and it would take FOREVER to sit through that...
I agree Enigma. Maybe I'm just lucky but the local Red Lobster where I'm at has always had friendly staff that will put in "shrimp refill orders" two at a time. Not once have I asked for this, they have always mentioned they could. Tip well and staff will take care of you!
Sam's sells the cheddar bay biscuit mix....no need to visit the restaurant anymore.
They taste exactly the same too. I made these the other night to complement a new seafood bisque recipe I was attempting.
