lol... I never see Apple fans go into Android topics saying people should buy an iPad/iPhone instead. It's always Android users, people should just buy what they like and respect that other people like different things, it just shows insecurity.

I'm a huge Apple fan (currently use an iMac, iPhone, Airport Time Capsule, MacBook Air etc), and even I agree the Nexus 7 blows the mini out of the water. The resolution of the Nexus 7 is night and day better, the weight is better, stereo speakers etc.

Now, if you HAVE to have all the apps that Apple has, then the mini is the obvious choice.

That said, if you can wait, wait. The new minis should be out soon, and hopefully without a pitiful 1024x768 resolution...

Apple should have taken the chance last year to release the mini with Retina display. Yes, it cannibalizes your full-size iPad sales, but let's be honest - rather you cannibalize your own sales than have some other company do it.

agreed. that's why I went with the Toshiba Excite 7.7" Having something close to 8" is perfect IMO, esp for those of us with 5-5.5" smartphones.

That being said, resolution and specs on the IPad mini are woefully behind the competition. For $290, I'd get the Galaxy Note 8 refurb or a Galaxy Tab 3 8.0, both of which have better resolution and a feature set like an IR blaster to control your TV and expandable memory.

I have a note 2, which means that I have no reason for a 7-8 inch tablet; it seems pointless. I thought everyone else would feel the same way... apparently I am wrong.

There's constant chatter of a fall iPad Mini line to be launched with the new iPhones.

Also: Tax in NY absolutely kills it. Elsewhere it's am OK price given the above.

Not really that's what google hopes you think tho, they both kinda suck in diff ways but the support is better on the mini

I am not an android fan. I am a fan of great products at a reasonable price. Why should I pay more for an inferior product? I owned an ipod, note 2 n a windows phone.

Have both, each have their own strengths and weakness.
Just on screen size, Nexus 7 is more portable, but I like using the wider screen mini.
More flexibility with Nexus, but simplified controls make mini easier to use for kids and non tech users.

Try both and pick which is best for you, probably match your phone OS choice to maximize your use of app purchases and ability to sync.
No reason to downplay someones choice if you have a different opinion as both are very useful devices.

I like to have a bigger tablet for extended usage on a plane and such, or when I am reading at home. 10" is a bit too big. 8" strikes me as perfect. So far so good with my Excite 7.7"

Note 2 is great, don't get me wrong, but after awhile, it's just nicer on the eyes to have a bigger screen.
