While Comcast has internet only Performance for $29.99 for new customers for a year (http://www.comcast.com/gethighspeed currently until 9/30/13), the sales/chat people would not let me get that price once my current promotion expired (and sent my price to $64.99) for my internet only service.

When I called to cancel (and threatened to go to ATT -- yeah right, DSL... Smilie ), the retention department said "what can we do to change your mind?" and I said, offer me the service at a much lower price... to which they came back with the $29.99 for 1 year promotion they have for the "new" customers. Fine by me, especially since I don't have to worry about fighting with them for another year...

I am in Northern California.

Can confirm, I did this a year ago for my mom. Ready to do it again. She uses under 1 GB a month.

Twice now I've gotten in touch with their twitter reps when they were threatening to cut my rate. First time was after fighting with regular customer service and having no luck. This last time I just msg'd him and asked him to renew my promotion. Easy peasy. No drama, no threats.

this is great. I have been waiting for a decent internet offer for a while, and this is exactly the one I would go for.

thanks, op.

Utilizing quantum physic theories, astrological scientific research, and clinical neurological analysis, I've concluded that you do this through twitter.

LOL! The followings' amount on that account is equivalent to the number of people at Comcast who cares.

I am currently a Verizon DSL customer. I visited OP's link: http://www.comcast.com/gethighspeed
When I click "Get it now" under the "Performance $29.99/month for 12 months" banner, it prompts me to provide my address. After filling out my address, I get an alert that says "this deal is not available."

What's the deal? Is it really not available for me? Why not? Any advice on how to get the deal as advertised? Thanks in advance!

The whole ISP price dance is really interesting case of price discrimination. It's kind of like a coupon. The ISP achieves a higher profit margin for less price conscious customers, while still retaining the more price conscious customers with these annual complaint call. You are, in effect, coupon clipping.
