Is there a nonlusage, or inactivity fee of $0.99?
A thing of the past. We previously passed along the cost of maintaining an active account with our carrier network partners on to our customer, but we’ve recently waived this fee altogether for new users.

Why has there been such long shipping delays?
Supply chain and logistical problems are responsible for delayed shipping of devices. We don’t anticipate any future delays with any new orders now that we’ve resolved our primary supply chain issue. We understand how frustrating this can be and have worked hard with our supply chain and logistics providers to ensure similar problems do not happen in the future.

Why has there been reports of “scratched or dented ” devices going out?
Our device supplier alerted us to a situation where several devices with cosmetic blemishes were mixed into our shipments. As soon as we found the issue, we sent out an email and implemented an exchange program for these devices.

Have there been reports of stolen credit card information?
We work with top tier payment gateways and payment processors, with the most rigid security standards in the industry to ensure our customer data is protected. While infrequent, we’ve investigated every claim raised by our customers regarding a potential credit card information breach and have not yet identified a single claim indicating any compromise of our customers credit card or personal information.

Have a Billing Issue?
We encourage all our users to come to us first to see if we can explain any charge or resolve any billing issue before further escalation.

Do you provide return shipping?

Is data rounded to the nearest megabyte?
Data usage is never estimated when calculating for pay as you go or plan data charges. FreedomPop calculates to the byte, breaks down data usage into 15 minute increments and only charges for actual data used. Data is however rounded on our website’s user account pages for easier data monitoring and tracking purposes for our subscribers.

What happens when I exceed my data limit?
Depending on if you are on our Free 500MB plan, or any paid plan your account will have additional funds added to your account for your convenience when you’re within 100MBs of your plans total monthly capacity data limit. Once funds are added to your credit account, you will be charged on a Pay As You Go basis. You can opt out of automatic top up service at any time, though you may experience interruption of your Internet service if limited funds remain in your credit account.

Can I bring my own device (BYOD) and use your services?
In order to take advantage of our services, you do have to purchase a FreedomPop device. All devices come with a 30 day return policy and a 90 day warranty.

What happens after my free promotional trial plan is over?
At the beginning of your new billing cycle, the payment method on file will be charged for a new month on this data plan.

Is there a restocking fee?
Handling and restocking fees may apply and depend on the condition of the returned device. We are charged a small fee by our logistics partner to test the device and ensure it is still in working order. This fee is deducted at cost per our T&Cs and is nominal.

Frown Just a point of reference from a former customer- Eventhough the map said I had coverage, the 2 units never found any 4G/3G coverage (so it is not a defective unit). Their CSR's will tell you to leave a number and they will call you back. They do the next day and after waiting on hold for 15 minutes, the system again suggests you leave your number and they will call you back. The 2 emails I tried to send to cancel the service were bounced back. So now my CC company is dealing with them. Of course since SD has them as an ad sponsor, this post will get edited. EEK!

Please note that you DON'T get 500MB "free" internet montly. You get 400MB. Once you're at 400MB usage, they will stop your service until you top off your account, similar to a deposit. They will deduct from this deposit if you're over 500MB. It's stated in their website. [ zmyr88: no its worse now. you might get charged service fee becaue they are slow to update usage and you get an overage charge. happend to me got sacked with 2.99 in overages!!! ]
I don't think so. If you turn the Auto Top Up off, you can still get 500mb data but once you over 500, the service will stop and you need to wait for the next month. This is what I test unless they change it recently. Please don't post anything that you are not sure in order to avoid confusion.

We don't have to step on any toes, but to the below "short version description" We have just posted some clarifications. Not all these statements are true: They can be found on this post: http://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=61314904&postcount=249- FP
1.) If you get a faulty device YOU pay shipping both ways. (remember these are refurbs which basically means returns - it is not like freedompop is soldering new circuitboards in there)
2.) Tech support calls require a service fee, otherwise you must wait several days for email response. Try getting through the SUPPORT menu, you'll be amazed at how complex it is just to leave an email.
3.) Each account requires a unique email address, so you need one to get a new device. Credits may not be moved between accounts.
4.) Your subscription to the service starts the day you place your order. Shipping delays are occasionally very long, and you may not get the device for a month or more. Open a support ticket when this happens.
5.) Freedompop has a reputation for charging added fees. They used to charge a monthly inactivity fee, for example. They have a number of services they upsell: rollover, replacement insurance, etc. Be careful you don't signup for these by mistake.
6.) Your account will automatically "top up" so use a one-time use credit card on sign up. If you are charged, you CANNOT get those credit balances refunded. The credit will stay on your account, but it will never be refunded to you - you need to initiate a chargeback to get that money returned.
7.) This is a SPONSORED deal.
8.) There ain't no such thing as a free lunch. If you want to downgrade from the promotional 2gb plan to the free plan - you MUST call in (may not be true I was able to do this via email very easy), and expect to experience long hold times, dropped calls, recordings, and all other fun stuff as you are constantly pressured to not change your plan. *YMMV for this one. I called in, didn't have any dropped calls or recordings or pressure. Just a very nice guy open to helping me out.
9.) Check out FOXFI app on your phone -- chances are you can get a hotspot on your cellphone right now without freedompop.
10.) This list will magically disappear from this wiki in 3... 2...

11. The roll over plan cost additional $3.99 will top at 500MB for 500MB monthly for a total of 20GBs stored, whereas it is not the case for previous 4G plan.

I am liking the device so far. Once in a while it doesn't connect, but overall, I LIKE IT!

If anyone is having an issue with the mifi device connecting unknown wifi devices and dropping connections. I changed the wifi channel and that resolved the issue.

Plug the mifi into desktop or laptop via USB, install drivers. Navigate in browser to 192.168.1.1 login as admin (password is admin). Under administration -> wifi settings. Channel drop down box

I changed it to channel three but I think it depends on the area ... I guess in my area nobody was using that channel.

you should set it to Channel 1, 6 or 11

anything in between interfere with 1,6 or 11.
