Well that's good to know. Amazons fitment guide seems to need a bit of work. Opinon on the lens? I'm still rocking the kit lens that came with my D5100. Another poster said a kit lens has better IQ.
A kit lens may have similar or better IQ in some cases, but if you're using this lens you are using it for the range. It's meant as a walkaround/travel lens for those times when you need to be able to take both wide angle and telephoto shots but can't carry all the lenses you might need.
No "superzoom" lens has image quality across its entire range that's as good as a decent lens with less range, but if you look at the reviews and tests, you're not going to do much better with this type of lens.
Honestly, I think most people should be able to get by without a superzoom unless they do a ton of hiking/traveling, but if you need one I think this is probably the best value out there. I've flirted with buying it multiple times but ultimately decided that image quality trumps convenience for me. It's awfully hard to resist at this price, though.
