Only $259 now! nod

This made the FP back in July when it was $279, but it's now $20 less. This is the matte version, and it doesn't have much glare at all, unlike the glossy versions.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/330932578...1497.l2649

I purchased two of these last week from "dream-seller" to have have a dual QHD setup and they both arrived in 2 business days FedEx International Express from Korea. No dead pixels, perfect setup, boxes in great condition. They work amazingly well! I couldn't be happier.

This monitor has a Samsung PLS panel and is equivalent to the QNIX QX2710; s The links are for the matte version, but there is also a glossy version available for the same price. Note, this monitor only has input for Dual-Link DVI, so your desktop just needs a decent DVI port--even cheap $30 cards have this.

Here's a great review from TekSyndicate on this exact model:

I know there have been many of these postings lately, but for $259 (the lowest price ever) and the positive reviews--mine included--you can't beat this deal!

Just a heads up, those who purchased the X-Star from this seller are being charged duties from FedEX (around 20 dollars) in the form of a bill mailed about a month afterwards.

For Mac Users:
If your Mac has a dual link DVI connection on it (Older Mac Pros, Older PowerMac G5's, older Macbook Pros etc) then you don't need anything.

If you mac has a Mini DVI (older mac Minis, older iMac, older Macbook/Macbook Pros etc) then you will need a Mini DVI to DVI adapter, which is about $10 online.

If you have a modern Mac with a Thunderbolt or Mini DisplayPort then you will need a mini displayport to Dual Link DVI adapter. Monoprice sells them, but they aren't cheap; $70. Don't waste your money on the Apple adapter, at $130 it's highway robbery. Don't be tempted to buy the cheaper mini displayport to single link DVI adapters that are $10; they will only give you up to 1920x1200 resolution and the picture quality will look terrible.

Also if you have a modern Mac with HDMI do not use a HDMI to DVI cable; you will get the same issue as using the cheaper mini displayport adapter; only up to 1920x1200 resolution.

PC laptop Users:

You are probably going to be a no go on this monitor if you have a PC laptop, unless you have: 1 - an older PC laptop with a dual link dvi output (rare now a days) or a mini displayport or displayport output. In this case you will need a mini displayport to dual link DVI or a Displayport to dual link dvi adapter. Monoprice sells them.

If you have a corporate laptop; such as a Dell Latitude or HP Elitebook with docking capabilities then you will be able to get a docking station that has Dual Link DVI output.

PC Desktops

For Desktops check to see if you have DVI output. Some newer desktops only have VGA and Displayport or HDMI. In this case purchase a cheaper PCI Express video card, like a Radeon 6450; buy a better card if you have the budget. It's a better buy to purchase a video card than to use a Displayport to Dual Link DVI adapter and cheaper.

Can anyone please help me figure out which graphics card I can buy to get 2 of these to run off it.

I can not for the life of me, find a card with 2 X dual link DVI-D ports
there are a bunch out there. Check newegg and filter cards with 2xDVI. check the pics and make sure the DVI ports looks like a dual-link port image [overclock.net]

No, I didn't have to get two cards. I did get an EVGA GeForce GTX 650 card because it has two DVI ports, whereas my older GeForce GT 240 only had one. I figured that was the easiest way to do the dual monitor setup, and it worked right out of the box.
To be more specific, your GTX 650 had 2 Dual-Link DVI ports Stick Out Tongue

A lot of video cards out there that have 2 DVI ports typically only have 1 that's Dual Link (with the other being Single Link)

Seems like 8ms response time would lead to ghosting for games/sports/action movies--is this no longer the case?

I've read it is closer to 4 or 6ms.

120 hz helps as well.

The biggest thing that scares me about these is the deal pixel issue and shipping back to SK.

My old 560 Ti had two

I had to ship one back to SK that was DOA (purchased from green-sum). I didn't have to pay any shipping fees. Don't know if Dream Seller will be as good.

Currently, yes. It can handle a higher res, but there is no sound channel. HDMI can't hand this resolution.

Next revision of HDMI should be better.

I wish they'd just kill off hdmi and go to displayport. It is superior in almost every way, is backwards compatible with hdmi, and has no licensing cost.
thanks, I was holding out to see if HDMI version will be cheaper, this price is too good!

The AC adapter is like a laptop adapter. It consists of 2 parts, the AC charging part and the wall cable.

It ships with the wall cable that fits South Korea plugs (the male end)

However, the female end is actually just a regular computer/power supply cable.

So if you have any spare computer power cables (..which I have too many..) then you're good to go!

Dual-link DVI does not mean two DVI ports, it is just a port that can specifically handle higher resolutions like this monitor. You need a compatible dual-link dvi cable as well as a video card with a dual-link dvi port. There are definitely cards with two dual-link ports, but they are most likely on the high end. You could try for a display port adapter though.

Do these normally have US-style two prong power cords though? Looks like this specific model only has a Type C South Korean plug.

they usually include adapters

After watching the video review.. it appears that it comes with an external brick with a Korean power cord. However, you can toss the Korean power cord and use a regular old USA-style PC power cord.

Anyone else, please let me know if I am mistaken about this. =)

It has 2 Dual DVI ports. One DVI-I and one DVI-D. It works fine with the DVI-I I am running one with a DVI-I port.
