I have had plenty of Vizio refurbished. No problems. Buy this on your credit card and doubles your warranty to 6 months.

This is obviously pretty tempting, but!

I'm not much of a tech geek, but I haven't had the best experience with i3 processor desktops.

In very broad terms, is this a decent computer in terms of performance? (I truly need all the help I can get since the only option I see with this is a RAM upgrade to 8gb and that's about all I know :/ )

Thanks guys!
What exactly you're doing would help us determine if this is a decent computer for you. Intel i3 processor are MORE than enough for everyday use (web browsing, HD video, Office, etc). If you're concerned about performance than get a quad core i5/i7.

I have the i5 version for bout 2 years. Only problem is I can't update the 650le. Everything else updates. Also, the base runs pretty hot. But I like this comp alot. Upgraded to 16gb from 4gb. You will need a special star screw from what I recall or some other type. Its not your typical screw to unscrew the base.

You can get an external one for $20-30 here on SD, for this price, I'm not going to complain no optical drive. But you are right, it would be great if it does include one.

Perfect gift for my daughter for Xmas. Her computer and Tv's are both 15 year old hand me downs and take up every bit of her space on her dresser. If it only had a built in tuner in the monitor but I can live with that.

Did you use desktop memory ???

The spec sheet says it's using the mobile version of the i3... which is usually accompanied with so-dimms....

It's just a matter of preference. Seems like you can download just about anything these days including a newer version of your operating system and load it from a usb drive.

I have two computers (work and personal) and hardly touch the optical drives on either one except when the kids want to watch their own blu ray movie.

I wouldn't be concerned much with the i3 for every day use. I have it in my iMac and its a pretty quick processor for every day use. I don't really game with it, but overall very good. You could probably also swap the drive for a SSD and make it even faster.
