This looks pretty cool. Hope the trackpad and keyboard are nice.
If the trackpad and keyboard are the same as the older series 9, which it looks like they are, they should be quite good. The keyboard is good, not great, but feels nice and gets the job done. The trackpad is excellent. One issue with the previous gen ss9 keyboards, however, was that they easily aquired a faded plastic look on the keys that were struck the most often.
I wonder how close to the screen you need to be when working on one of this resolutions?
with metro UI, everything is scaled up nicely so it will only look sharper and crispier.
on regular desktop mode anyhow, it will be TINY. but they probably had the windows 8.1 in mind when they were releasing something with this kinda beastly resolution.
OR, this might be Samsung's answer to these senseless general population that doesnt know jack**** about computers or tech always crying *BUT THAT RESOLUTION SUX WAHHH GIVE ME RESOLUTION OR DEATH!!* just shutting them up, and saying that they are more than capable of making whatever they want, but the general population now evidently and clearly cries, *BUT THAT RESOLUTIONS TOO MUCH WAHHHHHHHH YUO SUCKKKK*
and a good translation of these cries is this: GIVE ME THE BESTEST SHIT ON EARTH BUT I AINT GOT MONEY TO AFFORD SHIT. GIVE THEM TO ME FREE!
There are like a million models of laptops with 1366x768, that people are perfectly happy with. For the rest of the ones that like really super hi-res, can they just have what they want, and be left alone please?
If you are happy with low resolution, please by all means buy those with low resolutions and not this one.
I have bought many computers and the one upgrade that matters the most, hands down, is the resolution. 720P to 1080P is double the pixils and is a huge jump but I just wish prices would come down.
My bet is one is going to have to set the DPI over 200 QHD+. On 1080P I put it at 165.
Res whores will love it. I'd rather see SSD and memory prices go down. Add a 256gb ssd that price easily shoots up 300...i7 which performs marginally better than an i5 add another $100, so $1524? Thats not bad but still a bit high. Maybe samsung releases a fully spec'd unit at under $1400? One can dreamif they did they'd run away with the Ultrabook market.
The increased cost to get a marginal upgrade to the naked eye can't be worth it.
That would be true had they only upgraded the screen from the Series 9.
I challenge everybody who thinks super high-res screens don't make a difference to use one exclusively for a week or two, then go back to a puny 1080p screen. I do a lot of (tiny) text reading on my portable devices.
