Looks like a great deal. Good reviews. I'm looking for a network receiver though.

Amazon has price matched if it helps anyone to buy from them instead. Lowest price I have ever seen this receiver is $198.

OHHH I HAVE ONE!! bought one from frys last year for $219 and i love it!!

looks nice on my shelf and sound quality is great,

but i have no clue why the remote control would stop working, volume button still work, but on and off is dead

just fyi the front panel USB is a joke, the main purpose for it is for firmware update which i don't think HK would have any, it doesn't work for any iPOD or mp3 player

It should be able to drive bookshelf speakers easily. Check what wattage your speakers are, this receiver puts out 75 watts per channel. I believe this is a good deal, especially for $161.99 on Newegg. It looks like this receiver usually goes for around $240 when not on sale.

The 1700 has networking but the cost is higher. A good receiver though and in this comparison http://thecreativealternative.com...ver-guide/ with Denon, Yamaha, and Onkyo it looks pretty good. The noise level is higher, but maybe not noticeable by most of us with noisy rooms or hearing that can hear a pin drop in the room. It also "looks" good which is for some of us the only way we can get it "allowed" in the living room!

You could buy a 35 dollar raspbery pi and airplay music and video with that.

I have an H/K 1700,overall it's a great receiver but it's missing HDMI standby passthrough feature, not a deal breaker for some but it bothers me a lot LOL.

For those on the market for a receiver. I would recommend Bestbuy open box/clearance online. I picked up an open box in Denon AVR-1713 for $180 in pristine condition.

In the couple years I've been watching BB amplifier clearance deals none of the 3 stores in my area have ever had any amplifier on clearance for under $250 when I've looked online or in-store. Not once, not ever. So either I have the worst timing in the world when I check for clearance amplifiers or these magic BB clearance deals never exist in my area, so I'm forced to buy my amplifiers at Fry's when they're on sale.
