WTF are you talking? Chrome is known to be jumpy and slow on Android, if you are not a blind fanboy. Why else do they still have stock android browser? Google could have replace stock browser with Chrome if it is as great as you say it is Smilie Are you sure you are not confusing chrome to stock Android browser? I used it on my Droid / CM10 on touchpad - and it is HORRIBLE to say the least. Chrome on desktop is perfect but chrome on tablet/phone =/= chrome on desktop. no comparison. Metro IE has its many issues, nobody can deny it, but to say chrome on Android is perfect is a joke.

I can give you hundreds of discussions / reviews on Chrome issues on Android, but here is one from a few months ago from Droid forums ...

Chrome is known to be a bit buggy on android. Kind of ironic considering its Google. .. The best suggestion may be to try another browser.

I finally wound up disabling Chrome. It was unreliable, freezing up and sooooo slow. Drove me crazy. Disabled it and use the stock which I actually kind of like!

That was my exact thought when I read that comment. It seems like he's either never used Chrome or confused something else for it. Chrome is excellent on Android smartphones & tablets.
Yea the guy (sunnybyday) is a Microsoft troll... he posted the post below earlier in response to another member who had a problem with his Surface tablet. The other member called per his advice and found out that Microsoft won't have anything to do with Surface tablets sold via eBay... LOL

Call Microsoft surface customer care - their service is just awesome. You may be taken through a few steps to check if that fixes it, else you will be offered a replacement - and they ship it with next day delivery.
lol yea the guy called per your advice and Microsoft said 'sorry we don't support eBay deals'... you seem like a major MS fanboy and anti-Android troll.

There was a huge anti-Android troll earlier in the thread. Are you the same poster by chance with a different user name?

You fail to mention specifically which Droid phone you used Chrome on. Maybe you have an old POS phone? I've used Chrome on a Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 2, Nexus 7 2012 & 2013, iPad 2, and PC and it runs and performs just fine. Every time I acquire a new Andoid device, Chrome is the first app I download if it isn't on there by default. Can't remember the last time I used the stock browser.
Agreed, same here. I use Chrome on all my devices, works great. Repped you.

The guy is a veritable anti-Android troll.

There is no need to bash Android to try to make Windows RT look good. Windows RT has its own merits, but is not going to measure up to Android / iOS in many areas, but I'm enjoying my Surface RT tablet for the office suite, desktop mode / file system mode. Plus for $200 it's probably the best tablet deal around, nothing can come close to matching this for value, even with all of the limitations.

Anyways, since you are being such a douchebag and spread FUD on this thread, let me clarify what I said earlier. Microsoft DOES support the surface brought from eBay. I had some issue with the surface I brought from this deal and MS gladly agreed for a replacement with a new one and sent an RMA. Since you have made up your mind and may not believe - I have attached email screenshot showing they received my device. MS will review and send back a replacement in a day or two. You spreading lies here is not helping anyone.

Why so much hate for a corporation? It is just stupid. They make products to make your lives easier, if you don't like it - don't buy it, simple.

And just to clarify, I don't hate Android. Love rooting my devices (which I can never do with a WinRT or winphone) - have a CM10 HP touchpad, rooted emmc NOOK, wife has LG optimus G, and I had Droid Incredible 2. Love using google products like Chrome on my desktop. Also love using a bunch of MS products. The day they don't meed my needs, I will switch. I am not married to any company, only use if I like their products. I just stated above what I have observed on my TP and Droid - no need to be so defensive about it and start abusing others.

Dorid incredible 2. Not sure if it qualifies as a pos, but I liked the phone till I had it. Glad it works for you, chrome was not smooth on my Droid incredible2 and CM10 rooted HP TP - and as I linked above, I am not alone.

No you're a troll for sure.

Your claims about Chrome being slow and unusable on Android are universally replied to in disbelief by others on here. None of us have had bad experiences with Chrome even though you seem to have a vested interest in bashing it.

Doesn't matter if you post a screenshot, the other guy followed your advice and was soundly rejected by his attempt to get help.

Troll, enough said.

Jumped on this because I felt nothing worth buying for the ebay bucks offer. First of all, people need to stop imaging getting brand new devices as "refurb" because of all sorts of self conclusion, refurb is a refurb, it could be a never opened return or it could be used, but stop all the posts about "brand new".

2nd of all, it sure does look like an obsolete device to me, just check out xda forum, surface rt forum. Nobody is doing much developing job on it. And the windows app store lacks of quality for sure, just try type in a few sample searches to see. I'm not talking about those apps for certain websites such as slickdeals or fandango, I'm talking about cross-platform messaging apps etc. Seems nobody is willing to transform their apps to this platform. Just today I got an email from Microsoft about "developer rewards", guess they are really trying hard.

3rd, it's really hard to make the switch once you are comfortable with the ecosystem. For example, I've always been a WM user (from 2007-2012), and I used to use pocket outlook for all my work and leisure emails until I got a job that forbade work email being accessed by personal device (business device is strictly blackberry), and I finally jumped to Android, and gradually Google took over everything for me, from Gmail to calendar to chats. And now if I'm sitting with the Surface, I don't even know what to do with it, I don't use hotmail or any MS emails as primary any more, so the "log-in and everything in your MS account would do the trick" does nothing for me since I have nothing major associated with MS account anymore (xbox player might be a different story).

I googled online and could not find a lot of tweaking, tips or development news for this device. I mean other than typing in MS office, and open up IE for web browsing (this is very underpowered, if you try to claim IE gets your full desktop browsing experience) I don't know what else to do with it.

No, you don't know what help he was seeking. If he is looking for extending the warranty, i doubt MS will do it, he has to go to the seller who claimed it comes with 1 year warranty. They will only go by what their system shows - and links are provided earlier to register the surface and check warranty remaining.

Quote from akash1229 View Post :
Can you check your warranty? Mine came from Mesquite Texas and it is expiring in Jan 2014.

I called Microsoft Service and they will not help me with Ebay Sales
What help did you want? When I called for RMA, only thing I was asked is the Serial Number of my device - they checked if it was in warranty (which it is till Nov 2014) and helped troubleshooting online, once it did not work they replaced it. MS did not care, or ask if I brought it from eBay.

What problems did you have exactly with the device that MS agreed to replace it with a new one?

The guy probably didn't register his surface, or he just made up his story. I just sent in my ebay surface rt (from this deal) to Microsoft with a broken screen and they'll be sending a replacement one soon -- they paid for overnight shipping as well. It's covered until November 2014 even for accidental damage.

Have you ever used Chrome on Android? It is just horrible and wonky. Default Android browser is way better. I am thinking there are some technical issues both google and MS are facing while porting to touch environment. Still out of two, the IE touch interface is way better than chrome imo- still has some issues with random websites, overall I am fine with it. Win 8.1 has fix a lot of those issues.
I run chrome on my asus android tablet, my old htc phone, my new nexus 4. not that i'm a fanboy, it has been a reliable browser for me...

Is there a way to remove the "XBox" stuff from the Metro UI? (Video/Music)

The Surface isn't working out for me due to speed issues, but I think with a 64GB MicroSD it will be great for the kids to use as a car video player. But the problem is when they open video or music then it shows off all this paid XBox content. I know they cant buy anything since I dont have an xbox account but it's annoying and distracting.

My surface screen had a very faint green line from top to bottom - it was visible only on white screen. It did not go away even after MS support tried to reset device. They replaced it after reset did not help. No questions asked where I brought etc - overnight shipping for sending and receiving back. Customer care also offered three options for receiving it before sending the old one (will put a temporary hold on your cc till you return old one) or get a new surface from your local Microsoft Store.

That makes at least two of us. I was also told it is covered till Nov 2014 for all damages. I am sick of people spreading FUD without validating anything. Just call the customer care helpline, guys, its not that difficult!

Yes, the DInc2 would qualify as a POS phone at this point in time. If you had actually used Chrome on a somewhat recent Android device and not an old phone or an obsolete, hacked tablet, you would know that it performs and runs well. The fact that you make your comments based on your experience with these two crap devices and dig the web for comments to justify your statements make you lose ALL credibility.

Fine by me, I am NOT losing sleep over not having credibility in front of an anonymous android/chrome fan on the internet LMAO

The incredible 2 was not a pos when I got it 2 years ago, it was one of the better Android phones sold at that time. I have since moved and don't use Android phone anymore. I had to find others who agreed with my observation just because two gentlemen here have no issues and claimed nobody has issues. You two are not representative of anything as I am not - I was reading the latest mobile browser marketshare at a tech bolg (guess it was from Netmarketshare) and stock android browser had over 20% market share, Chrome about 5%. The scrolling issue I mentioned with chrome is pretty widespread (even on Nexus devices) and is very well documented on Android forums as well. Fine by me if you turn a blind eye, but just because it works for you does not mean it works for everybody in the world! Anyways, I am done replying to you guys ..
