That was a way to get the touchpad out in the market, current price of touchpad is higher.
just like nokia windows phones. they are only worth to buy if they drop their retail price to half.

Does that cover also works as keyboard?

From a hardware standpoint, this is awesome! I'm looking forward to using it with remote desktop to run real programs. Great price point simply for the hardware!
All the other tablets can run remote desktop also.

Not picking on you but that really isn't and added benefit of having a MS Tablet.

I bought one as posthumous work of Ballmer. I'll REALLY miss his surface, surface RT, and missing start button whenever I use this refurbished 199$ tablet.Smilie

The 64gb is the same price but without the touch cover.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/64GB-Micr...2a2f85bf74
Which means it's $100 more, because that's what the touch cover will cost you, and this is pointless without the touch cover.

Add your own flash media to up the storage and get the $199 32Gb + keyboard deal.

And that's a hell of a deal if you can live with the paucity of apps in their app store.

Apple stock crashed when Steve Jobs died. Microsoft stocks actually went up by 4% when Ballmer announced his retirement
When Steve Jobs passed away the stock was hovering around 420. For about year after it climbed to 700. and it is currently at 487. What crash are you talking about?

somewhere it is said RT is dead...

can this load android?
RT isn't dead. There is an update coming in November. Also, the underpinnings of window have been ported to ARM to support things like windows phone, windows rt, etc. At this point, windows will likely continue to move forward and support both ARM and x86, so it is unlikely RT will be cancelled or die anytime soon. (Even if it never got upgraded again, the system is a great value as is.)

There is not an option to load android that I am aware of. After you use Surface RT for a week or two, you wouldn't want to anyway. It is pretty great, the main complaints from people tend to be
a.) It can't run windows apps. (Neither can android or iPad).
b.) It doesn't have any apps. (It has a ton, but question shouldn't be quantity. See if it has the apps you want. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-u...pps#Cat=t1)
c.) It costs too much. ($500 was too much. You aren't paying that you are paying $200 and getting a keyboard.)

Yeah, I bought one just in case. But 4x ebay bucks is a SERIOUS deal :/

Have you ever used Android LMAO? Now that's an embarrassment of an OS.
Such an embarrassment that it has 80% global market share...

I agree this is a really good price. It's what Microsoft should have launched it at. That being said I'd rather have an android tablet or iPad since you can still remote desktop with those as well. Windows RT doesn't really bring anything special to the table unless you want to run office, but that doesn't matter if you're remote desktopping anyway.
"Only" advantage of Office? I'd say that's a HUGE advantage over ANY Android or iOS platform. HUGE. Try using Office over your remote desktop on a plane without Internet and let me know how that goes.

This is an actual productivity platform.

If you mostly want to play games, get something else, though.

Or if you want one of the 2000 apps that are added a day to the Apple appstore with names like "guess which letter of the alphabet I'm thinking of" you probably want to go that direction.

In for one. A tablet with Office and the future prospect of Outlook in the RT update sold me.
