*** OOS Again For Online Ordering ***

I managed to grab one online yesterday after It had been going in and out of stock like 2-3 times every hour. You need to be logged in and have your shipping/billing info and CC stored in your profile Also have the coupon code added as well and just keep checking. Once it lets you add to cart, you need check out real quick. I managed to add it to my cart a few times only for it to go OOS at the payment page. Hope it arrives earlier than the 09/10 estimated delivery date.

For those purchasing in-store, the coupon code is different.

To print out the in-store coupon, goto www.staples.com/coupons [staples.com] or see attached.

I tried to update BIOS and to my surprise, the one on their web site is older than what already installed. Is there any newer drivers on their site or their update software will automatically prompt you for that?

The i3 on this laptop works very well. I can't imagine why anyone needs to get a laptop with an i5 or i7 unless they're doing something more specialized.

Wonderful... got the first rebate rejected via an email even though I did everything right. Dealt with that for hours to finally get them to approve it and finally got an email days later confirming that it was indeed valid. Fast forward about a week and now I get a post card in the mail rejected another one. This time the reason is: 'All required products were not submitted'

Dafuq does that even mean? Do they mean items instead of products? Even then I know for a FACT that I submitted everything & even made copies of everything. They want me to make notes on the back of the post card as to why it is valid and send it in. C'mon Staples. This is BS.

Never again will I buy a Staple's product. I don't care how good of a deal it is. This is some very shady tactics they're pulling to get out of paying these legitimate rebates.

Anyone else smell a class action lawsuit coming on?

Did you contact rebate customer service again? Some posters above have noted receiving a postcard stating an invalid rebate after contacting to get the rebate validated but it appears that the postcard was based on the initial invalidation -- queued to be US Mailed with the initial invalidation email -- and the information the rebate reps can view have the rebate as valid.

It is clear from the threads covering this deal that Staples and Parago, the rebate processor, have bungled this rebate. It is unacceptable that more than two weeks into the rebate there are still problems with the rebate.

That said, if you would ask ongoing Staples Easy Rebate users, most would state that Staples Easy Rebates are the gold standard of rebates. I have done several hundred Staples Easy Rebates over the past several years and other than a few rebates during the switch over to the completely online submission system and one particularly complex Peachtree multi-product rebate, every single rebate has been processed and paid correctly.

It is Intel's Wireless Display (WiDi) device. However, since the laptop does not have an Intel wireless network card, it won't install successfully. You may be able to swap to one of the compatible wireless NICs to get it to work. http://www.intel.com/support/wire...031059.htm

I checked online and it doesn't even show up. I used the rebate tracking number on the post card and it's like it never even existed. Awesome! Facepalm

The rebate site's date count for an online purchase is from date shipped not the date purchased.

Put your original drive back in the laptop and install a program called "Double Driver" which will backup the drivers you're using (it'll automatically select the non-Microsoft drivers to backup). You can back it up in a folder or as a zip file -- copy the backup folder or zip file to a flash drive

Put your SSD back in there and copy the backup folder/zip file to your SSD -- run Double Driver and select the restore option

Good tip, repped.

Hey, I’m glad you guys liked the caddy install. I did bench the HDD before I swapped in the SSD, but in my enthusiasm to get the system up I forgot to save the results. However, I did notice that the HDD bay SATA connection is SATA/600 versus the DVD/caddy SATA connection which is SATA/300. So, the HDD may perform slightly better in the HDD bay. That being said, the difference between the HDD and SSD is night and day. I’ve attached the CrystalDiskMark results for my OCZ Vertex 3 120GB. Windows boots in 8 seconds tops! I’m a multitasking fiend so the SSD keeps up and keeps me sane.

I used the Toshiba recovery media creator to make a Recovery USB key, and then used it to “recover” to the SSD. I used the automated restore option. It recreated the same partitions just like on the original HDD. The system booted like when it came brand new, and I didn’t experience any activation issues.
The only feature I need to look for compatibility-wise is SATA II or SATA III when shopping for an SSD, correct? As in not mSATA?

Set up my "ssd" alert, waiting for a slick deal!

i opened a chat with them today, this is what they said...

7:37:22 AM: I have reviewed your information and your rebate has been approved in the amount of $50.00. Normally the status is also updated online in about 24-48, but we are having technical difficulties with this offer online.

7:37:57 AM: I can assure you that your rebate has been approved and the card in the amount $50.00 should e mailed within the next 15 days.
Go to http://www.rebateshq.com/promocen...track.html and check your status it should indicate it is valid if Staples validated it.
