Please don’t attempt to activate push-to-talk devices, iPhones, Trios, and Blackberries, as these devices are unsupported by our system. Also, this plan is only valid for Sprint “mothership devices,” so please don’t activate any phones from Boost, Virgin Mobile, or any other MVNO. We do not have permission to activate any other company’s devices, and in addition they most likely will not function due to blocking software. Any mistaken activation costs RingPlus money and takes a valuable space away for one of our other members. If too many people try to activate the wrong kind of phone, they may jeopardize this service for all of us.
*We are obligated to and will immediately deactivate any Virgin or Boost devices that find their way onto our network.*

For those who still get the Activation message at the beginning of of reboot only :
To get rid of the activation message (spinning circle), you need to top $0.02 on your account, and then do the method 2 again. It'll take 2-3 mins to reboot and update PRL. Let the hands free circle activation complete with its activation followed by PRL update followed by firmware upgrade and you will see no firmware upgrade, press ok and turn off the phone and when you turn it on next time, you will not see message any more.

There MAY be an option to ship on Kmart.com (depends on where you are):
http://www.kmart.com/shc/s/p_1015...006789001P
Qualifying Orders $59 + SHIP FREE Offer

Alternative: $7.99 at Amazon (for those without a BB or Kmart around in stock) (thanks Rebates2Riches) Edit: dead (third party sellers now for $15+)

Link [amazon.com]

*Now ships within 2-4 weeks*

*Does any one know how to sync contact between this phone and other smart phones or computer?*
---------------------------------------------------------

How to get the plan ?
Quote from unlvrebels View Post :
1. Buy a phone or use an existing phone
2. Go to this site: https://my.ringplus.net/device_va...quests/new
3. No need to open the cell phone package too (if it is new).
4. Type in the long MEID (DEC) in the site above.
5. If the phone works, you will get a message that says your phone will work with Ring Plus.
6. Now establish an account with a user name and password.
7. Go to Setting; Payment Methods; Add credit card information and save it.
8. Wait till the promo time.
9. During promo time, log into your account, enter MEID (DEC) again, select the FREE BYOSD plan. The free plan will show up only during the promo time.
10. It may take a while to get a cell phone number. Sometime you may get website error due to heavy traffic. Keep trying. Eventually, you will get it. It may take a while to get a number. Just stay on the webpage.
11. Open the cellphone packaging (if it is a new phone).
12. Follow the instructions in the dashboard to activate your phone. There is no time pressure to activate the phone. You got a number with a FREE plan and hence, you can leisurely activate the phone.

Good luck.

RingPlus setup

Method 1) The easiest method is to use "Update PRL". For Kona it is found under Tools > Update Phone > Update PRL. The phone will take 30 seconds to update itself then reboot and you are DONE!

Method 2)
To set it up with ringplus, type ##786# , then type 2 (to reset), and it would prompt you for MSL. MSL is displayed on your ringplus dashboard. After entering MSL the phone would reset and restart with all the new info. No need to edit all the info manually.

Steps to enable or disable mobile data on your Kyocera KONA

You may wish to disable mobile data to improve battery life

From the home screen, press the OK key.
Scroll to Settings and press the OK key.
Scroll to Others and press the OK key.
Scroll to Data Settings and press the OK key.
With Data highlighted, press the OK key.
Scroll to the preferred option and press the OK key.
Press DISABLE to disable or YES to enable mobile data.
You've now enabled or disabled mobile data.

The following link from Ting (another Sprint MVNO) covers a great deal of information regarding Hands Free Activation and PRL updates.

Just found this in stock in a best buy nearby. Called 888-BESTBUY , price matched from sears, and placed a pick up order. Thanks SD!

Not sure how you guys are getting this, I went in-store and BB wouldn't price match, the manager was rude, the employees were rude, everyone did everything possible to delay for half an hour and avoid matching the price.

Call the 888 number and same thing, the employee went over and over for 10 mins trying to find every nitpicky reason why they can't price match Sears.com, despite Sears.com being one of the online retailers they price match in their "policy". They won't even price match Amazon.com since it's not "immediately avalable", meaning it's not at another local store where I can buy it for $4.99.

If it was at another store for $4.99, why would I call BB to try and price match?

Anyway, went to Target and they price matched Amazon's $7.99 on the spot. No hassle. Best Buy isn't worth the extra $3. I can see why people hate buying from that place so much. Horrible. They've lost any future business I would ever give them for sure.

I checked this morning and both Sears and Kmart showed OOS. Printed a copy and went to Best Buy. PM was refused. I was told they checked and saw OOS within 50 miles of any store. They had this phone for $19.99. I went to Kmart not expecting to see this phone.(went to sears close by also)Saw last one and grabbed one. Thanks!

Shot down at BB, Target and Walmart on PM.

BB saw that it was kmart and they don't PM kmart here.
Target & Walmart said they only PM printed ads, no websites unless it's in a physical ad. Frown

Best Buy is inconsistent on price matching. One store in a city without K-Mart or Sears wouldn't PM, citing that they don't PM cell phones as they are considered accessories. Different BB store in a different city with both Sears and K-Mart (although not really close) did PM.

Since I missed the first deal, I just got off the phone with BB and the sales rep kindly price matched to walmart's website for $9.88 +tax, FWIW.

It's worth a shot, since BB only price-matches items that are either in-stock within 25 miles of within your area or readily in-stock for online shipping.

Hopefully I can snag another ringplus BYOSD activation when it opens up again (I think I read somewhere in the ringplus thread it opens again on Friday morning?)

It's Friday night, not morning.

People that are doing the pricematch through BB phone, are they shipping to you for free or is it instore pickup? I'd prefer to do the pricematch through phone to save me a trip to the store and getting denied.

When you leave a voicemail on the phone, does anyone get indicator that new voicemail has arrived. I do get the voicemail if I call but no indicator saying message in the queue.

Thanks for the clarification. Yes, they are including free shipping to your address. Most likely you can try in-store pickup if you want the phone before the third ringplus activation window expires. I just realized that my phone will be delivered after this activation period, so hopefully they have another one in the nearby future.

You're welcome and thanks for letting me know the details, especially that this might be delivered after Friday. I want to make sure I get this beforehand so I will see if I can get them to do instore pickup.

Let me know if the in-store pickup works when you try to call-in; I forgot to ask the sales rep because I got distracted by the words "free shipping" lol. If so, I may have to try my luck at my local BB store to increase my chances of getting the third ringplus promo!

I don't blame you, I would have done the same thing, lol! Unfortunately all the stores around me are sold out so I guess I just have to hope they restock before Friday. Frown

I was able to have Target PM to Amazon.com's $8. They don't match SEARS.com price. Not all Target has this phone.
Target pm'ed Sears price today for me.

Guys, PM'ing is always YMMV as it requires intervention with sales associates/managers.
