Received this offer in the mail and thought some SDers might find it useful. I was not able to find a thread on this, so hopefully this is the first.

Open a Fifth Third Checking account and get $150 deposited into your account within 5 days after receipt of the first automatic direct deposit of $100 or more. One per household. I uploaded the postcard I received in the mail for reference and blocked out personal info.

It looks like if you have a local branch, your chances of opening this account online and just giving them the "MA Code" 145 may work in getting this promotion applied. The reason why I emphasize may is because it says the address must match what's in the front of the postcard, but if you open it online and get it applied through the phone, I'm not sure if they will know what the actual address is. Also, another insight is that they pretty much mailed it to every person in the condo association I live in so it's generic. Again not entirely confirmed.
The number to call is: 1-800-333-7595

Obviously a scam bank. There are only three thirds, not five. Maybe if they said 'fourth third' it might have snuck by.

Thats why I won't go to Umpqua. Either they need to buy a vowel or explain how much umping I'm really going to get, or rearrange the letters to sort out the anagram.

Rather, I stick with Bank Of America, who has the best customer service and promotions. They've been running a promotion for years where they turn your bank statement into a treasure hunt where you spend hours trying to figure out where they buried a fee or improperly charged you for something. What a wonderful free pleasure!

One last post on this old post - These offers almost always come back, so jotting this down for future reference.

I did not even have to do direct deposit, I only performed one external transfer through my online account and my $150 came in instantly the day my transfer completed from my external bank account. I transferred a total of $1750.00.

I heard a commercial on the radio in Chicago that talked about a $150 bonus for new checking accounts, but they mentioned that the main condition for the bonus was 3 mobile deposits. I can't find that anywhere online. The online info that I found speaks of a direct deposit and needing a postcard. Since this was advertised on the radio, I assume no postcard is needed. Might calla local branch to get more info as I'd rather do mobile deposits instead of direct deposit (even though is sounds like an external transfer is okay)
