DEAD

It is unlocked. just got the phone and popped in my puretalk(ATT) sim and it worked right away!

Even though it is refurbed, you get 1 year warranty from Apple directly and not straightalk. -justned
Apple warranty correction program post

You may have the option (if it's unlocked) to pop in an AT&T SIM and get high(er) speed data via HSPA+. However, the phone will never work with LTE on AT&T or T-Mobile, since it doesn't have the correct radio built in. Verizon will also never activate the phone on their network. Basically, you will have no option to get real LTE on this iPhone 5 from Straight Talk, unless they change their mind in some hypothetical future and support it on their network.

Some places out there offer 30% cash back on iPhones from Straight Talk. [for those curious, search for "30%" in this thread; dead though as of 10/16/13.]
Buy the phone with your Chase Ink Bold and you'll get 5% off on top of that. For me, it's not worth it though to only get 3G with Verizon (via ST), or to only get HSPA+ via AT&T.

For those looking to use it on PagePlus: I was using a different phone on PP, then ordered this phone from ST, did an ESN (IMEI) swap and the phone works perfectly well. The only issue I had was finding a dealer that would do the swap. -signetv

Beware of bait and switch. I placed an order for iphone5 and the order was magically changed to iphone4s at $50 more, and no I did not make a mistake. Tried to cancel but it was too late. <----Not really a bait and switch. Page is just badly designed.

Seems like a pretty darn good deal. It's $400 plus $45 for a month's service. Go to that other deal site, get 12.5% cash back and you get the phone for $389.95 plus tax on $445.

After extensive research on this, it seems that you will get a CDMA iPhone that is configured (initially) to be used on Verizon.

It will potentially be unlocked.

It will only get 3G speeds on Verizon - Straight Talk does not yet and does not currently have plans to implement LTE on their Verizon-network phones.

The thumbs down on this deal are absolutely stupid. Use a cash back site on this for like 20%+ cash back and it's a smoking deal. If it is the Verizon model, it may even be unlocked already. The Verizon iPhone 5 was unlocked out of the box. The only reason I haven't ordered a dozen of these is because Straight Talk banned me from buying on their site long ago. Wish I could buy these. Who is thumbs downing this?

I have an iphone 4 on simple mobile and am looking to upgrade (43.08 after taxes for unlimited talk, text and 3g .. no 4g because of the phone I have) ... I really want 4g and I heard it has to be a iphone 5 for that to work.

I am trying to figure out the most cost effective way to have a newer phone for under $50 a month

If you have a gsm phone for sale or have any advice please pm me. - thanks

Absolutely right on all accounts.

I would hope that the ST/VZW iPhone 5 would eventually be sim-unlocked.

Even though it's only HSPA+ on ATT, you would get maybe 5-10mbit/s vs the 1-1.5mbit/s on Verizon though haha

If you consider AIO Wireless, they will do AT&T's LTE on their plans, starting @ $55 for 2GB

Because nothing beats getting an iPhone 5c without contract, silly!
