Lowes has the Black and Decker BV5600 250MPH 12 Amp High Performance Blower/Vac/Mulcher w/ Metal Impeller [lowes.com] on sale for $59.98. Pricing might be YMMV

The BV5600 seems very similar to the LH4500 that i own but is significantly less noisier (50%) which is one of my main complaints of the LH4500. The metal impeller is solid in mulching and the blower does a fantastic job. FYI also the blower capacity on this seems to be a tad higher compared to the LH4500.

Wow! This deal really sucks... and blows. Big Grin
I'm thinking of getting this. It would make Fall clean-up so much easier.

I got one of the refurbs and it's terrible for mulching. As mentioned, plastic blade, breaks at the drop of a hat.

Well, It comes with a 2 year warranty.

For me, the price point difference is large. $54.98 with tax verus $26.49.

Im not willing to spend $55 but I was willing to spend $26.49 (Actually $25.99 after ebay bucks)

Ive never used one before. Not sure if I will pick up & mulch the leaves or just blow them to the back woods area.

Its really only a problem for a few months of the year.

Raking would be cheaper.

I'm not sure if you are saying that is a good deal or not, but one single missed pebble and your blade is going to be chipped. There is simply no really good reason not to go with metal unless you view these as disposable and are willing to buy a new one each year.

anyone know if it's possible to buy a replacement metal impeller for these? I haven't found a reliable site/seller so far.

Can the metal impeller cut-up walnuts to pieces or not?

^ you should probably get a Nut Wizard for the walnuts... very well-reviewed on Amazon. I had a different brand mulcher and black walnuts totally destroyed it -- both the plastic impeller AND the housing.

It will most likely clog because grass clippings have quite a bit of moisture in them. These leaf vacs work best for dried out materials.

I own either this model, or the noisy one. Mine has a metal blade.

It sucks up dry leaves and grass very well. It does better if everything is in a pile. If you are just sucking up individual leave on the ground it will take you awhile. It is faster to blow everything into one pile (against a fence or house), then use the sucker/mulcher. I have sucked up large twigs and although it was noisy as well. it didn't damage anything. I assume it would suck up walnut shells just fine, but eventually the blade will wear out. As for grass clippings on the drive way. I would blow them into a pile, then suck.

PS. the sucker makes you feel like you have a gatlin gun strapped to you.

so I assume it only blows? and doesn't suck? unless that's what mulching means. dad's been meaning to get one and I might buy him this. I don't know much about leaf blowers..so go easy on me.
Sorry, couldn't get past the first part of your questions...OMG

I got one. I don't have any trees but my neighbor does. Kind of drives me crazy having leaves all over my rocks. Hopefully it will last.

I just purchased this today and will be returning.
I compare this to my Worx WG500 blower/vac that I have had for years. The bag on my worx tore and it no longer works as a vacuum.
Unlike the Worx you need to swap out the vacuum hose and bag for the blower attachment. PIA.
The worx simply switches from blower setting to vacuum.
The parts seem flimsy and cheap. The bag is thin and won't last. The blower is marginal power.
Like so much B & D product this thing is not meant to last. I have a big yard and this thing won't cut it.
At $49 + tax it is a hobbyist tool.
If you have a 10x10 patio good to go.

Does anybody here have any experience with this : GreenWorks24022 12 Amp Corded 2 Speed Blower/Vac [amazon.com]

I do not get too many leaves so most of my use will be light duty.
