HSN is offering an Android on Tracfone, the first of its kind. Phone is triple minutes for life and includes a lot of goodies:

1. $25 Google Play Card
2. 600 Minutes, 600 Text and 600 MB of Data
3. Car Charger
4. Choice of Back Cover

This phone is unique as it offers three different tanks of minutes; your minutes, texts and data are no longer shared. Great value! Nice to see Tracfone add an Android handset to their lineup!

I use about 1000 mins per month and 2 gigs of data. Tracfone has some lousy plans, most of them are meant for people who hardly use a cell phone. The phone has a 3.5" screen with 3mp camera, When i asked HSN what's the model number of this Samsung Galaxy, they had no idea.

If you hardly make phone calls this is for you, i use my cell phone a lot---- this phone and plan looks terrible.

So true, I had an Lg800g that automatically locks the screen 10 seconds after you dialed a number. Imagine when you dial in to an 800 number or voice recorder with number menu system. You have to first unlock the screen, then press the dialpad. Then it locks the phone again after 10 seconds of not pressing the phone. It becomes very annoying and also adds up the airtime.
I believe the guy you quoted is wrong. From the manual I read of this phone, you have several different options for locking/unlocking the phone, such as swiping, or a key password. The same as tablets.

Considering how price sensitive Tracfone customers are, Tracfone should seriously consider introducing Lumia 520 or a variant in its lineup. That phone has some good specs at its price and sells around $80.
The lumia 520 is more like $199 unsubsidized and you can be pretty sure tracfone phones are not subsidized like att or verizon

Just bought a triple minutes $25 tracfone to replace the one I washed. This CDMA phone would work in my Verizon corner of the country, wish it were available a few weeks ago. Might do it anyway. I don't really need it.... Smilie
that's an easy fix... run the new one through the wash.

At first, I, too, thought the separate tanks of minutes, text, and data was a good thing. But on second thought, no.... Now, presumably, after 360 texts, you will have to buy another card regardless of the amount of voice minutes left.
I agree except for parents who can buy it for their kids & if the kids use up data &/ or text before refill time, they still have no excuse for not calling. Voice, text, & data are fire walled so kids don't drain your recharges playing online or going text crazy. Smilie
Set a monthly (or less) refill rate & let them learn how to budget their bandwidth.

So Tracphone will have a Android phone with a 4.5 inch screen with a dual core processor sometime around the year 2020?
quit salivating.. 2120 is more realistic.

How easy are these to break in half when I'm done with my phone call? That's an important feature for prepaid phones.
Flip-phones are the only real burners.

Are you one of those "iPhone-using, BMW-driving, starbucks-sipping dickheads?" Maybe a lawyer?
Yes, feels good =P

But on a serious note, you can get an iPhone 3GS* for less than a hundred dollars on ebay any day of the week, get a $25 a month GoPhone plan, and not be super-annoyed anytime you have to use your phone for something more complicated than making a phone call.

*or Evo/Galaxy SII(?)/whatever similarly priced Android phone

is it possible to transfer minutes and the year of service from one tracfone (the 1460minutes from that other deal) to this one?

I bought a Galaxy Centura from WalMart last month for $100 in the Straight Talk package. The Centura says TracFone on it and even has the TracFone logo on bootup. Ive been using it on Straight Talk all month ($47) but now am curious if the phone will work on TracFone. Likewise will this phone work on Straight talk?
Tracfones cannot be used on any other carrier, and you can't use other carriers' phones on Tracfone.

The reason being is because of the retardedly bad proprietary Tracfone countdown structure that their phones use.

I mean, it is technically possible, but who the hell would want to flash that terrible interface onto a perfectly good phone, rendering it completely useless afterward?

I guess I wasn't clear enough. I don't own this phone. I own several other Tracfones, which all exhibit the traits I described. I was saying THIS phone could be the first one without those shortcomings.

Ordered Friday before lunch. Now it is Monday night and the status still shows "packaging". Is HSN normally so slow?
