Some verizon phones do use Sim cards. I know mine has one and it's only a 3g phone, not LTE. Might be because it is a global phone though.
Yup.

Verizon does not use the SIM card but your phone is also capable of using international GSM networks and maybe AT&T/T-Mo if unlocked.

This has the potential to be the first non-flip Tracfone that I wouldn't be terrified to put in my pocket for fear of it going on the Internet by itself and using all my minutes. It's pretty obvious that Tracfone wants to make it as easy as possible for people to accidentally use up their airtime. Couple examples from our phones: no password screen lock feature and a "Browser" button that starts using your minutes immediately when pressed.

I love Tracfone to death, but not being able to put my phone in my pocket is a pretty huge downside. Hopefully in the coming year they'll unveil some decent smartphone choices. This is a good start!

How easy are these to break in half when I'm done with my phone call? That's an important feature for prepaid phones.

Yep, but specs says it's CDMA. So doubt it'll work on any GSM networks.

ICS with 512MB RAM will be sucky to barely acceptable. Been there and wouldn't do it again.
I saw this model the other day at a smart talk display, it also has 4GB of storage....

Just bought a triple minutes $25 tracfone to replace the one I washed. This CDMA phone would work in my Verizon corner of the country, wish it were available a few weeks ago. Might do it anyway. I don't really need it.... Smilie

Supposedly Tracfone will be coming out with more Android phones soon including versions of the L38C LG Optimus Gingerbread, ZTE Z665C Valet Android 4.1, and Huawei H868C Glory Android 4.0...

Under which circumstances is this thing (tracfone) better than, say, pageplus or lyca?

Yes, sprint is the same way. Their international phones have SIM slots while in the US, it is going to be operating strictly on CDMA/EVDO

No WiFi on the phone. The previous deal at HSN with the LG840 was better.

TRACFONE ANDROID!?!?!?! Is this real life? I've never seen anything like this! I can't wait to upgrade. THE DATA TRIPLES TOO! This is the first no-contract pay-as-you-go phone with data EVER. Great find!

Thanks!

Oddly I dont see the "tanks" on their website, must be something too new that it's not even on the website. Though I do see the minutes and data now... perhaps the texts and minutes are the same tank still? This is a fancy catch though, just moved to another phone today ironically.. still waiting for the # port!
