HSN is offering an Android on Tracfone, the first of its kind. Phone is triple minutes for life and includes a lot of goodies:

1. $25 Google Play Card
2. 600 Minutes, 600 Text and 600 MB of Data
3. Car Charger
4. Choice of Back Cover

This phone is unique as it offers three different tanks of minutes; your minutes, texts and data are no longer shared. Great value! Nice to see Tracfone add an Android handset to their lineup!

I have this phone on Straight Talk and it works well for my needs. I actually like the smaller screen. No flash on the camera sucks though! There are a few system problems also, such as the clock randomly setting back 6 hours. This is a serious flaw that is yet to be addressed by Samsung. Google to see what I mean. Other than that, it works pretty well as a basic, entry-level android device.

At first, I, too, thought the separate tanks of minutes, text, and data was a good thing. But on second thought, no....unless you always use the exact same amount of minutes as you do text as you do data.

For example, if you buy a 120 min card for 360,360,360: what happens when you have sent 360 texts but have only made a few phone calls. Previously, it would all end up okay because your texts would just decrease your minutes up to a total of 1200 texts if you didn't use any voice minutes. Now, presumably, after 360 texts, you will have to buy another card regardless of the amount of voice minutes left.

I've been a long time Tracfone customer and I've been wanting a "smartphone" to look up some things when we're traveling. Will this be "smart" enough for this AARP member? I do know how to text...but I want to be able to take photos and upload them to Facebook like my kids do! [...]
You slickdealing youngins! I need some advice if I should get this deal or wait unitl Tracfone comes out with some newer Android phones??? Please help!!!
If you're price-sensitive and only looking for minimum functionality then this is absolutely the phone for you. This will do everything we expect from a modern smartphone: talking, texting, internet browsing, checking email, and running apps. It'll take okay-quality pictures and let you post them to facebook from the phone, and it'll act as a gps on trips (though you'll probably want a car charger). With android 4.0 it ought to be future-proof enough to keep running new apps for the next 3-4 years.

The people crapping on this thread are comparing this phone to brand new phones. For another $100-200 you can get phones with much better screens, professional quality cameras, android 4.3/5.0, and faster computer components. That's absolutely true. But respectfully, it doesn't seem like you really intend to use the full suite of features that a modern phone will give you (and indeed it'd be hard to with pay-as-you-go data). Tracfone will probably offer better phones soon, but they will not be this cheap and you won't want to pay another hundred or two for their extra features.

Just make sure not to waste the $25 google play credit, or this becomes a pretty lukewarm deal for these specs.

Hard to believe people would go for this, especially when there are so many other better options out there... especially republic wireless.

Republic Wireless uses wi-fi.
Tracfone uses the outdoor towers of many different networks.
Take a guess which one has better coverage for people who actually move around.

Tracfone has FAR more coverage than that service does.

You are comparing wifi to actual cell data????

Might have to bite on this. 13 year old son wants a smart phone. Would be a good starter, I think. He has a basic Tracfone now.

even $60 is too expensive for this crappy phone!

so this would essentially be $5 cheaper than my virgin grandfathered plan. @$90 (after minutes) it would take 18 months for it to pay for itself. I think I'll pass, but this is the best deal to come along since virgin's old deal.
Waiting for my optimus v to die, then I'll use tracfone or pageplus depending on phones available.
