This seems like a pretty good price; if not, flame away.

Interesting idea, and good price...
but in my high rise condo...
maybe not good for the neighbors above !

... one of the comments in the description
says Amazon should lower the price from $399... Smilie

Good price for the 8" models. I have the 6.5" version that I paid $50 from Amazon a few months back, 1.5 more inches for $15 is always worth it (that's what she said) IMO.

I have the 6.5" of these and they are ok. I also have the polk rc60i (twice the cost fwiw) and the Polk's sound much fuller. As a big Klipsch fan I was really hoping the Energy kicked Polk's ass but alas they did not.

foam surrounds last about 15 years then disintegrate
I have been building speakers for 30+ years and now try to use only rubber surrounds on my drivers

enjoy

so basically you save $60 over the new price of 120, not the 399 that Amaz says,
then you run the wires , cut holes in your ceiling that fit only these drivers
and in 8 years you may have to replace them.
if your time is worth nothing, this is a good deal. Or if these were made recently, you should get 15 years

A little learning is a dangerous thing. What you don't know - this is a popular speaker model, manufactured for many years. There's no way people will get speakers manufactured in 2004, just because this model was announced in 2004. So that comment, and your others, are are pretty stupid and inappropriate.

This is a good deal (assuming as with all deals that you need these now/soon - don't buy HT stuff for future use, as your needs and tastes will almost always change).

I have been looking at these and the price is really great (thanks OP). Was considering putting them in for rear surrounds (yeah, maybe more speaker than needed for that purpose) but a little concerned that these don't have the directional tweeters so they will be aiming down at the floor the whole time, kind of messing up the sound field.

Coincidentally, my alternative I was looking at was the RC60i that matthew79 noted above, so good to hear that....

According to the Audioholics [audioholics.com]link above, the tweeter used in the EAS Series is designed to pivot, allowing you to direct the sound as desired.

EAS-8C - 2-Way ceiling mount speaker, 8" mica filled polypropylene woofer, 1" aluminum dome swivel tweeter, 125 Watts RMS power handling, 45Hz - 20Khz frequency response, 8 ohm impedance.

Where do you read that these units have foam surrounds? It sure looks like rubber in the photos... hmm..
