The TorGuard staff will be monitoring this thread so feel free to post any questions you may have...
We now offer unlimited VPN service in: The United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Netherlands, Norway, Iceland, India, Germany, Turkey, Russia, Romania, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore.
Is this the list of countries with 'Exit servers/Node'?
I've been contemplating a VPN for over three years now to protect me from getting those cease and desist letters from the ISP or directly from a movie studio or whatever. So far I guess I've just been lucky and have yet to receive one. My buddy has received about half a dozen or more over the years and just doesn't seen to care. It would freak me out a little but so far I just can't justify the expense. PIA offers a similar deal frequently and gets tons of thumbs up and replies every time. This TorGuard deal seems to have gone unnoticed so I guess it isn't a good deal for some reason.
Ooops...I take that back. I guess they did get a bunch of positive reviews the last time. This time so far not so much for some reason.
Why not stop doing what you are doing you are getting those letters because its not cool to do what you do.
Are you above society? Pay for media instead of obtaining it in a shady fashion.
cease and desist letters means STOP

Hong Kong is not China. I asked about Chinese servers. Hong Kong remains independent for a few more decades. I don't want a server to use from inside China. I want a server in China that I can use from outside. Content providers that limit content to China will not serve HK IP addresses since that's not part of China.
TorGuard staff please explain legitimate reasons for using your service at $5 /mo?
Besides using it to hide stuff that ISPs are trying to stop their users from obtaining and eating up bandwidth?
As above user described.
Is this thread "self-promotion" why is TorGuard staff monitoring it why is SD staff posting as is this is a grey area item with a slickdeal50 code?
What is next torrent threads by staff? Shakes head.
Its used mainly for that thing called *Privacy* you know to stop yourself being monitored from shady organisations like the NSA - i don't see the problem ? If people wanna stay private there picking the right people to keep them private.
What makes you think im American. Hong Kong is part of China and its part of the P.R.C but it operates under a pretty stupid "One country, two systems" policy.
Ah.. that explains your under education. The agreement between China and the UK for the turnover, stipulated 50 years of independence for Hong Kong after the turnover.
"Hong Kong’s Basic Law, as agreed between China and Britain, means Hong Kong will retain its own currency (the Hong Kong dollar), legal system, and parliamentary system for fifty years. This means, for all practical purposes, Hong Kong is actually a separate country to China. "
If you go to Hong Kong, you leave China. The Chinese government has signs up on the border making it clear to confused people like you.
"Note that leaving the mainland for Hong Kong is considered to be leaving China, so you should apply for a multiple entry visa if you wish to enter Hong Kong, then re-enter mainland China. "
Finally, in terms of this discussion. Hong Kong is definitely separate from China in terms of the internet. That's why google moved to Hong Kong when it pulled out of China.
"Google Shuts Down China Search, Redirects Users To Hong Kong"
And that's why if you use a Hong Kong IP address, sites like iqiyi will put up a error saying "This content is available only in China".
