I tried to be patient with them as well, but when they told me it was an additional fee and that's how ALL of their refurbished products are, I got very aggravated. When I tried to apply his same logic to the refurbished laptop I bought, he said "Yes, that's a laptop." Thank you Captain Obvious! So AC adapters come with laptops but not monitors even though it's required to work?
I wouldn't waste my time [ along with raising my BP Embarrassment ] with those idiots.

Just hang up and call again, with fingers crossed to be connected to a rep with normal IQ ! Big Grin

Whats the response time on this?
If you're thinking about purchasing this monitor to game on, then don't. This is an IPS monitor. You should really be looking at TN types instead.

I'm most likely going to return it as long as they don't charge me a restocking fee. I'm just going to tell them it won't turn on...which isn't a lie. Big Grin

Wow...just wow. The first Dell guy told me that since it's a refurbished monitor, it doesn't come with an AC adapter. Uh what? How am I supposed to supply power to it? And why did you send every other cable known to man?Confused
Transferred to sales where this guy tells me "Since you bought a refurbished monitor, Dell assumes your previous monitor is the same so you'll be able to use the same AC adapter." EEK!

I've bought refurbished products before and never ran across an experience like this. This is crazy and it's pissing me off. MadMad

The guy told me it's Dell's "policy" to not supply the AC adapter with the monitor. It's an additional $49 for the adapter and since this is a refurbished monitor, it's up to me to buy it.

Dell can go to hell.
Dell Unfortunately makes monitors that are good enough in quality and price to warrant putting up with the garbage service.

That's insane. I was the OP for the second time this deal hit the front page. I ordered 3 monitors. One was DOA with image burn. After waiting on hold for 3 hours, talking to 6 different people, they sent me a new monitor. Also, ALL three of my monitors came with power supplies.

You mean solitaire right? The IPS monitors in this thread have a response time of 7ms. Either you're playing Sim City type games that are not very fast moving or simply not noticing it. I would never choose to play FPS games on an IPS monitor. Period.

My order for the s2340m keeps getting delayed. I ordered on 10/2 and the estimated shipping date is now up to 10/21. Called Dell and they just said it was backordered and I could cancel if I wanted to.

Just out of curiosity, have you compared a TN to IPS side by side lately? I know it's long been a rule of thumb that IPS is worse than TN for gaming, and I'm sure it is at least a little bit worse, but I've been using an LG IPS235V for a few months as my primary monitor, and I feel like you would need superhuman sensitivity to blurring in order to be bothered by it. If you go to LG's U.S. site, the they list the IPS235V and IPS234V as having 5ms response time, but if you visit the U.K. site, it lists them both as 14ms. The UK may have more restrictive commercial guidelines for advertising these specs, but it just goes to show how mailable these numbers really are when there's no standard for the methodology. The worst FPS gaming experience I ever had was on a TN monitor which claimed 2ms response time.

I'm sure there have been advancements in TN monitors as well, with response times adequate for 120hz monitors and whatnot, but my Samsung 2333HD 5ms TN from 2009 performs the same or worse on response time tests compared to my LG IPS235V 5ms(?) IPS from 2012. While I haven't been able to compare the Dell S2340M to my LG IPS235V yet, I have serious doubts that the Dell's 2ms higher stated response time could be proven in an apples-to-apples comparison.

If you search the Dell S2340M Newegg, Amazon, Best Buy, and Dell reviews for keywords like ghosting, blur, and response time, in the reviews matching these terms, you'll find as many people saying it's a non-issue as saying it is. There are very few reviews saying it's a deal-breaker issue (although you may contend that those FPS gaming enthusiasts are savvy enough not to buy one in the first place, and thus wouldn't be reviewing them.)

You're obviously an enthusiast who is extremely sensitive to these things, so I respect that you require a TN screen for gaming, but I think many will find that IPS monitors have fast enough response time to serve as both a high quality desktop display and a gaming monitor.

My simplified perspective -- if you have no problem gaming using an XBOX 360 or PS3 on an HDTV (which is almost never a TN screen) you'll have no problem gaming on an IPS monitor.

Well said. And yes, I will research the Dell model you mentioned (S2340M). I know their monitors have high reputation.

You can probably take care of all this on the online chat option if you don't want to have to call. The link is on the front page of the dell outlet website. You may want to let them know that the stock number for this monitor has changed from 293M3 to DGPV4... so if they're having a hard time finding a 293M3 to fill your order, they can always send you a DGPV4 instead. Just a thought, something to try.

Totally floored on this.
I chatted up Dell this morning. Told the agent about my missing AC adapter. Got an order number with next day delivery. SAY WHAT!?!
I checked the status of the order and sure enough it's for the AC adapter...no charge What an ordeal!
