UPDATE 3: It appears that ~2 weeks, this 'deal' is over. While you may still win on your first try, the odds are now much less than 100%. Good luck.

Many of you may know that Google and Hershey's are running a promotion involving specially-marked Android KitKat bars (see attached image). By redeeming the code inside, prizes include $5 Google Play store credits, Nexus tablets, and more.

But what you probably don't know is that you WILL win a $5 Google Play credit on your first redemption! While these Android KitKat bars are still somewhat difficult to find, I know 6 people including myself and my spouse who found them, and we each won a $5 Google Play credit on our first redemption. Needless to say, this is not random. A few of us have also won additional $5 Google Play credits, but after several more attempts.

So if you happen upon an Android KitKat at your local market, make sure to pick up one ($0.69 at my local Target) and redeem for the $5 credit. You will likely be able to do this for additional Google accounts, if you have any. Good luck!

Update: Link to Redemption Page [hersheys.com]

Update 2: Some users are reporting winning the 2nd prize (a bag of KitKat minis) instead of the $5 credit.

whats your technique for doing them all in a row... I can decide if I want to just do a few per day or knock them all out in a row...

I did them in three different sittings but as many as 20 in a row. Every code must have a new account created. Email must be different every time so lets say your email is you@gmail.com you can add a +01 making it you+01@gmail.com all the way to you+99@gmail.com all emails will come to your gmail account. Every code you have to register a new account. The address needs to be different every time. I just made them up. The zip codes need to different every time as well made them up too but make sure they have the right first 2 digits for the area. Last phone numbers need to be different. After you get the winner announcement you can click on a edit button in the top left and then enter a real address if you win a tablet.

So I open up a Google incognito window and then after it says winner I collect my credit and then use the log out button at the top left which then takes me back to the landing page and rinse and repeat. No need for new windows different browsers or changing ip's as some have said just make sure you create a new account each time randomizing the things i said above. I would get them entered sooner rather than later. I would image soon the codes will be used up or someone will catch on to what we are doing Wink

It looks like the redemption codes can be stacked on the same google play account.
You want to know if you win and didn't receive anything ?
11. WINNER'S NAME: For the first name, last initial, hometown and state of the Prize winners, mail in a self-addressed, first class-stamped envelope to: Android / KIT KAT(R) Instant Win Game Winners List Request, P.O. Box 3000, Dept. 597-722, Young America, MN 55558 by February 29, 2014.

Update on November 20th -

Looks like they did try to use my original (completely random/crazy) contact information. I received this email asking for corrected information, and now expect that I will end up getting the Nexus 7 2013 Smilie

Update on December 16th:

It took them almost a month, but I got a notification from UPS My Choice that I have an incoming package from:

GLOBAL FULFILLMENT/YAC
NORWOOD YOUNG AMERICA, MN, US

With a Departure Scan from Glencoe, MN, United States 12/12/2013

I did not receive any sort of email notification that the Nexus was on it's way. Glad it's finally getting here, just in time for it to be a Christmas gift Smilie

It's worth noting that I was able to redirect the shipment to my work address using UPS My Choice. That way no chance of a missed delivery.

How could you have won more than once? The terms state that, in the US, there is only one prize per name, address, email or household. The chatter on other sites seem to confirm this, as well as a Google Plus post [google.com] that has them confirming this.

Anyway, I do agree with the rest of your post - you WILL win on your first code entry until they run out of those prizes. Because of this, people have been giving out codes they have beyond the one they have won (having bought multiple Kit Kats) - but it would suck if you gave out a code and it was a winner for the Nexus 7.

Personally, I bought multiple packets of candy before I found out about the limit so used multiple accounts and have won the $5 every time now (three times). I made sure it was all legit information because if you win the tablet you don't want it going to a fake address. The only thing I'm not sure about right now is if you can/should redeem the $5 codes under the same account.

Check Walgreens! That's the only place I've heard consistently as having them, and where I got mine.

And the official Hershey's website to redeem your kit kat code is

https://www.hersheys.com/kitkat/android/

OP might want to add this link in case people want to check out the site.

Kind of misleading...for the proper inform, see the official website: http://www.android.com/kitkat/index.html

How do I know that you might not win with your first try? Well, I got 10 of them...and I won the 4th and 7th try.

While I agree that the terms do state this, in practice several people I know have won multiple times.

As I mentioned in the OP, it is based on anecdotal experience - but it is safe to assume the game is designed to let users 'win' on their first attempt. The main purpose is to (from Google's point of view) is to attract users to the Play store after all.

But what's the risk? Even if you don't win, you'd still have the KitKat. nod

The elusive Android Kitkat bar. I have yet to find one, been to multiple Giant supermarkets but no luck. Going to try Target and Safeway as others have found it there.

When I found them at Safeway, they were not on the shelves yet, but a clerk found a box in the back.
