Just curious, for this price why not get the 50 1.4?
Because you can't shoot indoors very well with a crop sensor and a 50mm. I have a 50mm and a 30mm, and they both have their reasons for being in my bag. Lately I've been using my 30mm a lot more often, mostly because I can shoot indoors without having to be on the other side of the room, pressed up against the wall.
Also, while we're at it, why not go a step further and get the Canon EF 85mm f/1.8? Why not pay a little bit more and pick up a 70-200mm f/4L?
You buy the tools for the job. While moving your feet may occasionally work, it's not a universal truth.
