Verizon Wireless Waived Upgrade Fee
Just got an email offer from Verizon, offering to waive upgrade fee of $30 until October 31. Just a heads up in case anyone was thinking of upgrading soon (since 5S and galaxy note 3 are coming out). I have a fam plan with 4 lines so that saves me $120

I wonder if this is line specific or a blanket deal for all.
at work so too busy to play around with the specifics, but have included a screenshot and will report back when i give it a go on another line (i already upgraded 1 line before I got this email strangely enough, although sounds like something scumbag verizon would do)
When I bought my iPhone 5, I went to a corporate store and asked them to waive the "activation" fee which is the same thing as an "upgrade" fee. They said they could not, but they could credit my account for the amount of the fee. I called customer service later in the week to see if the store applied the credit and they had not, so I asked the CSR if she could and she said, "absolutely!", two minutes later my account was credited and I was off the phone. If a rep does good, make sure to give them kudos when the automated survey comes through - it should be a 949 area coded number.
I haven't check out my Verizon plan for a while. What exactly is the upgrade? Is it just going from a regular cell phone to a smart phone?
Every 20 month's you are eligible to lock yourself into a new 24 month contract. When you do so Verizon will offer you a free or discounted handset. With the activation of a new handset (purchased from Verizon) you will have to pay a fee, this fee does not apply to BYOP Verizon devices purchased from third parties.
