Just got an email offer from Verizon, offering to waive upgrade fee of $30 until October 31. Just a heads up in case anyone was thinking of upgrading soon (since 5S and galaxy note 3 are coming out). I have a fam plan with 4 lines so that saves me $120

Could've used that the other day when I got my 5S. Oh well. Perhaps my wife will get one and I can apply it to my line.

The funny thing is I got this email AFTER i upgraded a line earlier this week, so I'm going to call and try to get it adjusted. Maybe you could give it a try too?

Do you have to do it at Verizon store or online? I would upgrade m phone at bestbuy.

My contract ends in two months, I am wondering if I wait until contract ends, do I still have to pay upgrade fee? Thx

I haven't gotten one yet, but will keep an eye out. Perhaps you could post a PDF with your info blacked out.

I called last night talking about upgrade fee, the agent didn't mention this promotion to me. Guess its targeted.

It's BS that they charge you an upgrade fee in the first place.
Not only do they lock you in for two more years, they charge you $30 to do it.

"Thanks for being a valued customer and agreeing to sign another contract. Now give us more of your money!"

yeah that honestly is by far the stupidest and the most retarded idea ever came out of any human being in the history of mankind.

HEY WE OFFER YOU AN UPGRADE DISCOUNT OF $100! ($200 whatever) BUT THERES $30 UPGRADE FEE!!! AND IT CANT BE WAIVED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!

Now how the hell is that a $100 discount? these big cell carriers are worse than apple. at least apple isnt such a scumbag

I haven't check out my Verizon plan for a while. What exactly is the upgrade? Is it just going from a regular cell phone to a smart phone?

When I bought my iPhone 5, I went to a corporate store and asked them to waive the "activation" fee which is the same thing as an "upgrade" fee. They said they could not, but they could credit my account for the amount of the fee. I called customer service later in the week to see if the store applied the credit and they had not, so I asked the CSR if she could and she said, "absolutely!", two minutes later my account was credited and I was off the phone. If a rep does good, make sure to give them kudos when the automated survey comes through - it should be a 949 area coded number.

Every 20 month's you are eligible to lock yourself into a new 24 month contract. When you do so Verizon will offer you a free or discounted handset. With the activation of a new handset (purchased from Verizon) you will have to pay a fee, this fee does not apply to BYOP Verizon devices purchased from third parties.
