ATTENTION : ATTENTION : ATTENTION

T-Mobile will be getting rid of grandfathered/legacy plans!

"The three posts below were posted in the tzones sticky today suggesting that ALL grandfathered plans may be eliminated in the upcoming months.

The first two are from someone who received a letter in the mail saying their plan is being changed.

The third is copied from the comments section on tmonews by someone claiming to have inside information about this.

If anyone has received letters that their will be changed by T-Mobile, please add it to this thread."

The letter just says if I choose to cancel my service I can do so without penality until 2/1/2014 - but I wasn't under any contract to begin with.

He said they are migrating all grandfathered rate plans (I'm in the new york area). My 39.95 rate plan (600 minutes with free weekends) was very old and it was with $2.99 t-zones. They said they started sending out the letters at the end of September and I guess I'm one of their earlier customers so I got it first. He says it had nothing to do with exchanging my sim card a few weeks ago. The new plan is $45 Unlimited voice, text, 4G, but I think the speed drops after 500Mb.

He says everybody else that is on the very old grandfathered rate plans will be migrated.

"
ALL customers, no matter how old or how cheap your plan is, will be force-migrated to a new Value Plan. Unlimited minutes will be the ONLY plan, with different pricing not available to customers unless being force-migrated. All legacy plans will be retired indefinitely, no migration fees for anyone on legacy plans, and your price may drop or increase when getting moved to the new plans. You will have until 2/1/2014 to cancel service with no termination fee should you not like the plan you will be forced to.

Thankfully, single line Unlim Minute plans will start at just $20/MO vs the current $50 (again, not available to consumers, only those being force migrated, based on your specific needs). Once the force-migration finishes by December, it will be 100% Value or newest Classic with Bridge to Value as your only upgrade option, priced at the advertised rate, not the special price for forced-migrated customers.

Last, deposits are 100% gone for new lines of service, regardless of credit score, but credit score will still determine down payment and EIP amounts for full priced phones.
"

and

"
ANYONE BEING FORCE-MIGRATED WILL RECEIVE SPECIAL, UNIQUE, AND/OR DISCOUNTED PRICING ON RATE PLANS; prices that are not advertised and will ONLY be available to current Tmobile customers being force-migrated.

If you didn't like the price of the currently advertised Uncarrier plans, then consider this a blessing in disguise, as you will be able to get all the benefits of Uncarrier, at a monthly cost lower than what you see advertised today. Some will get more, save money, break even, and only in extreme cases of very old legacy plans with no features will you incur a price increase.

To give you a detailed idea to ease your mind, currently there are over 350 different rate plans across all tmobile customers since they started in the USA many years ago. This transition will not bring those 350 down to just 1 plan (the plan you know of as the current Simple Choice Value Unlimited Everything $50/$30/$10). It will bring those 350 down to just 50. That's still 49 more options than you see advertised currently, to ensure everyone is happy with the cost and benefit of being 100% Uncarrier.

Letters which detail the specialty pricing offered unique to your account(s) will be mailed October 10th for Family Plan rates, and Single Line letters have just been mailed already.

Uncarrier for everyone! Get pumped! And look for your letter in the mail if youre on an old legacy plan to see what you can get! This is a great change!"

proof : here is the letter they are sending out.

My bill cycle just ended on may 3. I have $10 unlm text(line 1), i have a free 100 sms for
(line 2) I call 611(apr 30) to make changes for the overages. The rep insisted that line 2
with free 100 sms would get unlm text so I went for it. Forward a couple days later after
my cycle ended I did not receive those unlm text but got added on a web plan
called preferred shadow web which I've never heard of(for dumphones?) for $5. I was ok
with that change because it gave me voice discount. So yesterday went and called
611 to see why they didn't make the changes, after sorting things out since i was able
to get both the free 100 sms on both my lines to make it unlm text. All in all i got removed
the $10 unlm text. As of today so far so good on overages thus saving me $10.
Oooo what is your 100 SMS listed/named as on your statement/bill? Blink

My bill cycle still has one more day on it, but my texts changed to unlimited earlier this month. My voice minutes are still the same (not unlimited) and MyFavs calls still count as MyFavs...hoping that everything rolls over cleanly to unlimited when my bill cycle ends. It's the T-Zones that I'm most concerned about...in case they try to stick me on a throttled plan. My data usage is still showing 0.0MB of 0.0MB (so unlimited).

I've had a bill since the "change". Nothing happened. Still pay $150 for 5 lines with unlimited everything (old grandfathered data on two lines sothey doesn't throttle, ever. The other 3 are on the $5 unlimited BTV but they rarely use 2-3 gig a month). The only difference from new plans is that I don't have the unlimited international.

Blink and I guess this is only possible if you originally had a txt pkg & downgraded right?
Anyone else have this add-on? Blink

I'm thinking about redoing our plan but not sure if it will work. Is it possible to still get BTV?
Would this work: Our plans are just voice, no data when there's wifi available. With BTV, that would give $10 off base plan & $5 off the $9.99 AAL (but not take $5 off $7.99 AAL right?) in addition to adding the Preferred Android/Smartphone Unlimited at $20-$15 BTV discount to 3 of the lines (except for the $7.99 AAL) ....so essentially it'll be like free? Blink Is this BTV discounts forever or only until the 2 yr contracts are over? Blink

We got:
500 Family Preferred NW $49.99 for 1st 2 lines
+ $9.99 AAL
+ $7.99 Business AAL

And has anyone been able to get Preferred Phone First Web for $10 added instead of Preferred Android/Smartphone Unlimited anything recently?

Yes I downgraded my text package..previously had $10 unlm text. What I'm really looking for is the $10 family messaging, i've been trying to add that forever, has anyone on here had luck adding that.

As far as PAU BTV you should able to add that, call 611 and get transferred to loyalty it's all over this thread lots of info here.

I was told forever when I got my BTV.

Just call and speak with Loyalty. They are awesome and extremely helpful. Hell, when T-Mobile was running the BlackBerry trade-in, I called Loyalty trying to score me a refurb Z10 for cheap. That didn't happen, but the rep must've looked at my plan, and bumped the base plan down by $10 OMG Same features and everything, without me even asking (I knew about this cheaper plan, just never even thought to ask, thinking I had no leverage.)

Just make sure you have all your ducks in a row, and you actually qualify for BTV. Also make sure you know exactly what you want to add, and are courteous. If you've been a long time customer, that will help too.

upgrade means switch plans or upgrade as in add/remove features? we're prolly gonna stay with this plan forever, but if it's add/remove features =(

Upgrade means you cannot get a phone through them. No renewals, etc, you have to buy your phones elsewhere, or in a way that doesn't tie back to your contract.

Had a grandfathered Get More 1000 with myFaves, Unlimited Texts, and the Preferred Android Unlimited Data and wanted to get the Mobile HotSpot feature, so I called up Loyalty and switched to the Simple Choice Unlimited plan.

Unlimited minutes, texts and 5GB 4G LTE high-speed data (unlimited but throttled after 5GB and shared between phone and HotSpot). After $10 per month loyalty credit it's $60 per month plus about $9 in taxes. It's about $5 more what I was paying before, but with Mobile HotSpot, free international 2G data, and .20 per minute international calling.

How do you call loyalty? Is it a separate number?

call customer service and in the automated operator say "Cancel Service"

that'll transfer you directly to loyalty
