I know these were on sale for $10 less earlier this year, but this is about as low as these typically go.

Almost unarguably the absolute best value for speaker you can buy. I'm currently sitting on deals building a 5.0 setup so I was excited to see this drop so soon again. Pretty sure this was in response to Best Buy dropping it to the same price. But at Amazon no tax =]

Better alternative - JBL LSR 305 and those are active monitors. Musicians friend has them for $150 each. Little more price...
A *little* more?Smilie Dude, that's over 3x the price. That's like saying a loaded Escalade is a little more than my Civic.

Got these. I actually am using them for front and rears in a 5.1 setup. My media room is 10x10, only reason I haven't yet upgraded to towers for the front. Sound is pretty good for a cheap HT setup. Anyways, I really like the price/performance for these. And I actually don't find them to be very ugly. I guess that is personal preference, though.

I only wonder if Pioneer is about to come out with an update to this line of speakers. They've been on the site for a while "Date first available at Amazon.com: July 20, 2012".

But I'm in for a pair now, and will pick up the other parts as they go on sale (I hope).

How are these compared to klipsch B-20 speakers at Fry's for $99 a pair ?

Just a heads up: these speakers are NOT very sensitive at all. Pairing them with a beefy receiver will get you best results. If you're looking to use a cheaper amp or one of those little class t-amps, it may be worth it to look into some more efficient speakers.

Don't own these, but I've heard them in a few stores. They sound absolutely fantastic for the price.

What receiver(s) do you recommend?

Good question, seems like a much better deal than these pioneers. Klipsch are on sale @ $200 on amazon (reg $279).

Well, I am just suggesting an alternative, for those who might go for it. Just read the post above mine and you will see the relevance of my post. I didn't thumb down or said OP's deal is bad. For little more money, there is a better speaker out there and it has amp built in. It may work out for those who just want to put stereo speakers next to TV without needing an external amp/AVR. I can just take Analog RCA out from my TV and connect to those JBL's and done.

Besides, $150 is not 3.5x of $89.99. The price at amazon is per speaker, not a pair.
EDIT: my bad. Its priced per pair, so JBL's are 3X price.
The JBL monitors don't accept RCA connectors, only balanced connectors (XLR, TRS) like most powered monitors.

You obviously don't own them, what's your agenda here? Trying to make a sale?

If you really want a fantastic sounding bookshelf speaker track down a pair of DCM CX-17's off craigs or eBay. Don't think you will find a pair of bookshelf speakers that can be had for under $100 that can top those.

These are amazing speakers in that price range, easily better than my KEF and Jamo bookshelf speakers:

The SP FS-51's are the previous model and do not timbre match the SP-C22 center channel or the BS-22 bookshelf speakers.

The Polk 10" sub is typically found around 100. I would start there

I was going to say that.

Just doing my research tonight for a possible purchase of the Andrew Jones system for 549. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com...r+Speakers

I am wondering if Pioneer is about to update the line. It's been well over a year and they iterated fast between the first and second generation.

Do you have any advice on ferreting out this info? Thanks.
