Hmm. Now I'm feeling like the tramontina set wasn't that good of a deal. Anyone know how this and the fp Tramontina set compare?

The newer Emeril is a little lighter than the original several years ago. One could never know if heavier is better. I think the quality of construction and the material make the pan and not how heavy it is.

This does have a 100 degree higher temperature rating at the Wal-Mart site for the Wal-Mart set (however the site info may be wrong/check the box when you buy it). I have 3 sets of the newer stuff in my extended family and 1 set of the old copper clad. So far we have not had any issues but we do use our 3 ALL-Clad pans I bought on sale most of the time as they are superior products for cooking. No coated pans in my cupboard.

I've seen these in store and they looked pretty nice. I was trying to buy American and had decided on a set of the Classic Stainless Trip Ply All Clad but can't pass these Chinese ones up for the price.

I wasn't aware of the 100 degree oven rating though. All I can find on either website is that the frying pans are oven safe to 450 degrees.

Even so, I'll give them a try and supplement with an All Clad large saute and frying pan.

Thanks OP.

The All Clad Copper Core is their best line. Copper core for even distribution of heating. http://www.all-clad.com/Pages/Col...0CORE.aspx

I never used these, so I don't know how they are. The copper core is pretty good. If you don't really cook, I doubt you won't notice much of difference between the top vs these.
