How to generate your own $10 off $50 coupon

With Staples blocking sign-ups from common free email services, it is now more challenging to generate coupons. But have no fear, there are still many ways to go about it. Here is an overview of the easiest way.

You'll first need to buy a domain name. Check out registrars like namecheap.com and name.com, and shop around for deals.

Then, sign up with an email service provider that offers a "catch-all" mailbox feature. This means that emails sent to any address at your new domain will automatically be collected into that catch-all mailbox, essentially giving you unlimited email addresses. For example, if your domain is example.com, emails sent to [email protected] (fill in the blank with whatever you want) can be automatically sent to [email protected]. No need to create new email accounts.

Gmail via Google Apps for Business [google.com] offers the catch-all mailbox feature, as does many other email service providers. It's also possible that your domain registrar included email services when you bought your domain from them (though they may not necessarily offer a catch-all mailbox). Search around for a service that you like.

This sounds complicated and time consuming, but it's really not. Feel free to PM me if you need some general advice about the process. -Olafur

Outdated, but still relevant, information:

Thank you to NoMoreStaples

"Valid through 1/31/14 in Staples® U.S. stores only. Minimum purchase requirement of $50 must be met with purchases to which no other coupon or instant savings offer applies. Tax is not included in calculating the minimum purchase. Not valid on desktop or laptop computers, LCD/LED displays, tablets, netbooks, Apple® products, Bose® products, Amazon Kindle®, NOOK®, Epson® ink and toner, custom printing orders placed online, all Copy & Print self-serve and computer workstation, gift cards, mobile phones and mobile phone services, Staples® EasyTech(sm) professional-grade and on-site services, depot repair and parts, phone cards or postage stamps. Each item purchased can only be discounted by one coupon, applied by cashier in order received and prior to tax. Coupon not valid if purchased or sold and must be surrendered. No cash/credit back. Not valid on prior purchases or on purchases made with Staples® Procurement or Convenience Cards."

Note: Even though the stated expiration date is 1/31/14, it is shown 4/4/14 on the printed receipt. So in some cases, the coupons could be redeemed after 1/31/14 with some talking to Staples cashier/manager.

What are the current expiration dates on these coupons?
Quote from Elementary_Watson :
11/5/14 on the one I got a few days ago.
Quote from JeRRyCuRLz :
11/16/14 as of late, that's the "printed" expiration atleast...

Expiration on receipt shows as 11/1/14, but will probably be extended. I hope....
The expiration date showing on the coupons is always (for some time now at least) one month from when the coupon is issued (not when emailed, but when you click on the link to print it). If you keep the email and go back and try and print it again later, a new expiration date will be on it, 30 days from the current date.
The actual expiration date is different and is regularly updated and changed Staples. It depends on the series of the coupon (first 5 numbers). Only way to know for sure (that I know of) is to check out with one and see what it says on your receipt. You can just see it's still valid by adding it to an online checkout with something over $50 (and then remove it, after verifying.)

So to confirm you can't stack the 10 off 50 with the 25 off 75/30 off 80 coupons anymore?

The new $10/50 have a "fixed" expiration date. They are attached to the date when the email was sent, and don't reset if you print it again. Is this format new? And does anyone know if the "properties" of the coupon have changed?

Can only a single 10/50 be used per account now? If I am logged in as a guest, it accepts the coupon code, if I login to my account, it says code has been redeemed already.

Do i just have to checkout as a guest? If I do this, is this going to cause any issues? (i.e. - blacklisting, etc?)

yes, coupon abuse can lead to blacklisting and inability to place any future orders online.

Thanks for the response. Does this only apply to using the coupon online? Is there a risk for problems if I use them in the store?

Doesn't seem to be any risk to using in store. Many people have used dozens (maybe hundreds?) of them in store in the past with no problems.

Too bad $10/$50 no longer magic any more and looks like its expiration is not gong to be extended past 2015/01/31 but without being magic it is moot point anyway! -Frown

Used it yesterday to get some free coffee as filler with two 5-ream case (with $5 off CPN off course) expiration date on receipt still 2015/01/31.

All new codes expire 30 days from the day they are generated. What matters for expiration is what shows on the receipt for expiration for the 10/50.
