Just wanted to give a heads up for the military active and retirees.

Home Depot Eliminates Military Discount For Most Items! (Just in time for Veteran's Day weekend!)

As a retired military guy I always appreciated a military discount at our local Albuquerque Home Depot and Lowe's. The cashier checked my retired military ID and rang up the order; however, the discount did not apply for anything in my cart. She said the military discount is now for just "certain items." She said Home Depot recently changed their policy.

Guess Lowe's will get my business.

Home Depot has usually never given my brother the military discount in the Niagara Falls or Amherst stores up near Buffalo, while I have always gotten it in the Jackson TN store.

Lowe's has always honored the 10% off in all three stores.

Not surprising news based on the history from the stores up north...

This is one bill I wouldn't hesitate to have Congress pass. Any time I see a military ID (man or woman) and see it exchanged at Any department store, I have Tremendous gratitude. Makes me really stop and say what the hell is wrong with this country.

OP - I give you a thumbs up for your service and reps for your continued patronage.

I don't see why military members deserve a special discount more than police, firefighters, teachers, nurses, EMTs, or any profession that contributes to the public in some way.

Non-issue for everyone else except for upset people losing their automatic discount (sucks, but start using coupons like everyone else) and a vocal subset of people who have been brainwashed with nationalism (don't care). Life goes on.

the chain where I work at gives discounts to local police, firefighters, etc. But they don't give discounts to military. I will usually hook those people up with a free item. I think something is better than nothing.

I support the discount. I know every single member may not have bullets being fired at them, But the ones that do deserve it for sure.
