This Slim Xbox is missing a few ports that the previous model has. It doesn't have a separate optical out, for instance. I have a projector so I need that to get audio to my receiver. Investigate before you buy.
The 360 s 4gb has an optical spdif connector according to microsoft.
Any experts have any input as to whether it is worth spending $99 on this for the purpose of only using it for XBMC? Your input is greatly appreciated.
You would NOT buy this for X Box Media Center. XBMC is software that spun off of the original Xbox and now runs on a variety of devices, but not Xbox 360.
I am buying one for Windows Media Center, which allows me to stream live and prerecorded tv to my Xbox 360. This essentially turns the Xbox 360 into a whole home DVR, but you need a PC with Windows Media Center and a tv tuner.
I'm also not planning on going to the store on Black Friday because I value my life more than $79 off.
Read this link["http] for details that gives more specifics on which HDDs will work and how to make it work.
Just to make it clear, you're referring to the Xbox E and not the Xbox S. The Xbox S is the slim model. This Walmart deal is for the Xbox E, which is missing the one USB and optical output that you're referring to.
Yeah, so you won't be able to use gaming headsets on the E correct?
